This course provides a blended mix of theory classes, practical experiments and laboratory sessions combined with project-based learning (PBL) elements (hands-on) with medical device equipment and software tools.

This course integrates the study of biological systems, biomedical devices and clinical engineering with traditional mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineering. Projects are carried out in conjunction with industry, with medical practitioners, and with the Biomedical Engineering unit of Cork University Hospital.

In order to attain the DPP students normally undertake a placement in either industry or a research institute. Biopharmaceutical Chemistry is a multidisciplinary subject that combines areas of chemistry and biology. The Biopharmaceutical Chemistry course has a relatively small intake of students and includes ample opportunity for research within projects in years 2 and 4, and a 20-26 week work placement in Year 3.

This Special Purpose Award in Biopharmaceutical Supply Chain Management is designed to broaden and deepen the knowledge and skill base of graduates of a Level 7 degree in Supply Chain Management or in Business and Engineering disciplines who already have experience of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Supply Chain graduates have shown particular interest in enhancing their knowledge of issues such as the strategic management, transport planning, customs management, and global logistics and supply chain management in the Biopharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical industry sectors.

This one-year programme is an industrially focused Level 8 programme where students gain valuable knowledge and skills in key subject area, which are pertinent to working in highly regulated and automated manufacturing and distribution environments such as GMP, QA, QC, Lean Manufacturing, Operations Management, Lean Supply Chains.

This course aims to produce graduates with the skills needed for employment as technicians/technologists or scientific personnel in the fields of biotechnology and biosciences. The first year of the course will give you a solid foundation in biology, chemistry and physics.
