The BComm in International Hotel Management at Shannon College incorporates a full Commerce Degree with an emphasis on hospitality, tourism and the development of communication and leadership skills. Commerce International (BCIT) combines a flexible business education from Ireland’s leading business school with the linguistic skills and cultural understanding to succeed in the exciting world of international business. Students of the BCIT course are well-grounded in the theory and practice of business management and equipped to understand and comment critically on business issues.

To achieve a truly global perspective on business, it is necessary to immerse yourself in the culture and not just learn the vocabulary. As part of the course, BCIT students will also take a range of literature and culture modules from the UCD School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics.

Led by the Irish Hotels Federation, this two-year apprenticeship combines practical on-the-job training (3–4 days per week) with academic off-the-job learning (1–2 days per week). It offers a structured pathway for aspiring professionals to gain industry-recognized qualifications while working directly within the hospitality sector.

With this two-year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified commis chef, with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Culinary Arts.

The BA in Communications is a three-year full-time programme which aims to give learners an introduction to communications platforms including photography, radio, journalism, and TV. The course involves both practical and academic projects and gives students the chance to work in real journalistic situations over the course of six semesters.

It will include key subjects that inform the digital media sphere, including local journalism, marketing and advertising, advocacy, campaigning, community awareness and digital communication. 

This honours degree course enables students to gain practical media skills and build an industry-class portfolio across a range of media.

This course gives you the skills needed to work in the communications cabling industry. It focuses on installing fibre optics and copper cabling.
