The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision in range of social care settings or to progress to further and or higher education and training.

Completing a QQI Level 5 course in Applied Social Studies with Special Needs Assisting course opens up opportunities for employment in a variety of settings, including schools, childcare, rehabilitation facilities and community centres, or progress to a wide range of Higher Education options. The BSc in Applied Sports Science with Performance Technology prepares students to work in an emerging field of sports analysis. This course is underpinned with exercise science to provide students with the background knowledge of developing sports performance.

This programme is ideal for students who have an interest in sport, recreation, outdoor pursuits, or in coaching and instruction. It offers students the opportunity to acquire appropriate practical expertise and enables them to develop the competencies to be effective leaders in the sport industry and provide several  pathways through postgraduate study.

This programme aims to offer students the opportunity to complete year one of a common entry degree in Sports Science, with Tipperary ETB, before having a guaranteed progression route to years two to four with TUS Midwest (Thurles Campus).

Year one will provide students with the opportunity to begin to learn about anatomy, movement, nutrition, exercise, strength and conditioning, as they relate to the study of sport.

Having successfully completed year one of the degree, students will progress to year two of their chosen degree in one of the following:

• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Sports Science with Sport and Exercise Nutrition

The BSc (Hons) Applied Sports Science with Performance Technology prepares students to work in an emerging field of sports analysis. This course is underpinned with exercise science to provide students with the background knowledge of developing sports performance.

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles and practical applications of nutrition and exercise in sports performance. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience during the course by working with populations of all ages, genders, and abilities through modules such as Nutrition Across the Lifecycle and The Female Athlete, as well as during work placement (or studying abroad) in the third year of the course.

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Sports Science with Strength and Conditioning offers an in-depth education on this growing area of interest, both in Ireland and internationally. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is becoming a central and key figure in preparing and advancing the fitness and performance status of the individual athlete and team both in professional sport and also in amateur and recreational sport.

The BSc (Hons) Applied Sports Science with Strength and Conditioning prepares students to work with children, youths, and adults in various sporting environments. This course focuses on the applied nature of exercise science.

The course content will be delivered through theory and practical classes. We place a significant emphasis on preparing students to be able to deliver the knowledge through practical coaching sessions. Over the four years, students will study the components of fitness, the principles of training, sports nutrition, sports psychology, learn how to analyse biomechanical movements and the science of sport.

Students will be introduced to key concepts, practices, and policies in the field of professional youth whilst examining national and global issues that can have an impact on youth work and young people. Students develop empathetic skills in communication, psychology and youth justice whilst experiencing two different forms of work placement in community settings. All students will also have the opportunity to undertake two work placements, as part of their studies.

The Auctioneering and Property Services Apprenticeship is a two-year ‘earn and learn’ programme, combining on-the-job training with academic study which leads to an Advanced Certificate in Auctioneering and Property Services. The government-supported programme was developed by the City of Dublin ETB in partnership with the Property Services industry. There are no course charges for the apprentice.

This is a four year Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship combines practical work with a registered employer and classroom learning, featuring an 11-week training block at DFEi during Phase 4 and a 10-week block during Phase 6. Applications are managed entirely through SOLAS, and the training equips you with the skills to build and install structural wood products like doors, floors, and roofs.

This course offers a Single Honours degree programme examining the human past from a broad humanities and social sciences perspective, including the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with archaeological material and undertaking fieldwork.

This course offers a Joint Honours degree programme examining both the wider human past and contemporary Irish language as well as Gaelic heritage and identity from a broad humanities-based perspective, including the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with archaeological material and undertaking fieldwork.

This course offers a Single Honours Archaeology degree programme with an additional French language qualification.

The Archaeology, Folklore & Heritage Studies course is particularly suited to school leavers and adults with an interest in cultural and heritage studies who wish to return to education. Students will be introduced to key areas of Irish Archaeology, Folklore, Local History and Heritage studies, enabling them to pursue employment opportunities in the tourist industry. There will be several field trips to places of archaeological, historical, and cultural interest including museums, ancient sites and areas of archaeological interest.
