This course will provide you with a solid grounding in general business and competencies in key areas such as finance, economics and accounting.

You’ll gain knowledge and skills in a broad range of business-related modules, including Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing and Information Systems, and be able to apply this knowledge to different environments and industries. You’ll also develop good communication and writing skills.

The purpose of this award is to enable the learner acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in the theory, principles and practices underpinning a range of business scenarios and to enable the learner to work independently or in a supervisory capacity in a variety of business contexts and or to progress to higher education and training. To facilitate the learner to develop analytical, reflection and evaluation skills as appropriate to a vocational setting.

This award is designed to prepare learners for meaningful progression into both employment and education by building strong, vocationally relevant knowledge, skills and competencies. It supports learners in exploring eBusiness as a pathway to employment; while developing the analytical, bookkeeping and communication abilities needed in modern workplaces.

This three-year honours degree programme is a joint collaboration developed between St Angela’s College and ATU Sligo. It covers the disciplines of Business and Irish simultaneously and equally. The Business strand is undertaken through the medium of English, and the Irish strand through the medium of Irish. Opportunities occur to marry both subjects throughout the degree. Graduates of this programme have the knowledge, skills, and attributes to progress to careers or further study in a variety of fields.

You choose one business subject (Accounting*, Business Management, International Business or Marketing) and one language (Chinese, French, German or Spanish). You do not need to have studied either business or your chosen language for the Leaving Certificate to take this degree.

The Business & Law (BBL) degree is a popular choice for many students and is extremely well regarded by employers across the legal and financial communities. This course enables participants to acquire the skills, knowledge, and competence required for an administrative role in a range of business contexts and/or to progress to further and or higher education and training. By the end of the course learners will be able to demonstrate a broad range of specialised business administration knowledge and specialised and practical skills. They will be able to evaluate and use information to plan, develop and determine solutions to varied problems in a variety of business administration contexts.

Participants also develop their interpersonal communication skills with both groups and individuals, to work effectively in teams and to develop time management and problem-solving skills so that they may work efficiently in their chosen vocational area.
