The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Hotel Management is a four-year full time programme. This programme has a long-established excellent reputation and was the first hotel management degree to be offered in Ireland. This programme aims to provide learners with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for a successful career in management. Teaching is delivered through a range of practical and academic learning styles to maximise the student learning experience.     

During this degree, you will learn about issues such as conflict, peace and security, intelligence, terrorism, globalisation, third-world debt and climate change. By the end of this unique and innovative course, you will have learned about international politics, development and regional studies from a global perspective to equip you for careers working with international organisations, institutions and NGOs. 

This innovative course provides school-leavers and adult learners with a comprehensive understanding of current global development issues and the interactions between state and non-state actors within the global political and economic community. Students explore the fundamental role of international institutions in global relations while gaining the theoretical and practical skills required for a career in the development sector.

The programme in International Relations and Conflict Studies provides students with an in-depth, interdisciplinary understanding of contemporary politics, international affairs and conflict situations in their political, historical, cultural, economic and legal dimensions. Dedicated modules introduce students to core concepts and debates in International Relations and the study of conflict. Students will acquire familiarity with different polities and societies.

International Relations and Irish allows students to appreciate how the insights of political analysis (e.g. political theory, political institutions, international relations) and the tools of literary and linguistic inquiry combine to illuminate political and historical developments, including those in the contemporary world.

The Joint Honours Programme in International Relations and Politics will provide you with an in-depth, interdisciplinary understanding of contemporary politics, international affairs and conflict situations in their political, historical, cultural, economic and legal dimensions.

Dedicated modules will introduce you to core concepts and debates in International Relations and the study of conflict, as well as European integration. You will acquire familiarity with the experiences of differing national polities and societies, facilitating the development of cross-national comparisons.

Students studying International Relations and Spanish appreciate how the insights of political analysis (e.g. political theory, political institutions, international relations) and the tools of literary and linguistic inquiry combine to illuminate political and historical developments, including those in the contemporary world.

The degree takes four years to complete (which includes the study abroad year).

This course is designed to prepare graduates to become efficient managers in the tourism industry. Tourism specific modules will develop an understanding of the complex issues facing a contemporary national and international tourism industry, while business and management modules will develop critical transferable skills in business, marketing, management, finance and data analysis.

This degree prepares graduates for many of the business roles available in the tourism industry in Ireland and internationally today. Students develop skills at both operational and supervisory management levels. The integrated work placements in Year One and Year Two allow students to experience at first hand the challenges, demands and rewards of working in this exciting and ever-changing industry.

This programme is designed to enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work in an international trade-oriented environment. Develop transferable skills and explore self-employment as a career option. This International Trade programme provides work placement or work experience to enhance employability and transferable skills. Entrepreneurial and business planning skills and modules are also available to explore self-employment as a career option.

The degree is designed to meet the needs of those who want to work in travel and tourism, which is now one of the world’s largest sectors. You will develop a detailed knowledge of travel, tourism and the associated skills necessary for management in this evolving and dynamic sector that is highly customer focused and media influenced.

This is a BTEI Level 4 course. It provides students with a general all-round knowledge in key aspects of horticulture. Students are offered a good balance of practical and theory-based skills including: growing plants, horticultural with real hands-on experience.

The course includes a variety of classroom-based subjects, clinical practical skills, mandatory work placement and independent study. Assessments and assignments are continuous throughout the year. Academic learning consists of a combination of onsite and self-directed learning.

This introductory module provides a vibrant entry point into the hairdressing and beauty sector, offering a comprehensive overview of industry standards and salon operations. Beyond technical knowledge, the course places a high priority on professionalism and communication, teaching you how to maintain an industry-standard image and interact effectively with clients.  

This programme equips students to develop a sophisticated grasp of modern Irish language language and culture. A range of modules will provide you with a broad understanding of Irish culture and society and include Irish-language film studies, human rights in contemporary literature, and opportunities for tailored work placements within the vibrant Irish-language sector. The growth of Gaelic identity is also explored and insight into the country’s wider heritage is developed through the study of Celtic mythology and Scottish Gaelic.

This programme equips students to develop a sophisticated grasp of modern Irish language and culture. Students on the BA Irish and Broadcast will receive intensive tuition in the Irish language with 3-4 hours of language instruction each week. You will choose from a wide range of modules relating to Irish culture and society such as the short story, poetry, Gaelic identity, mythology and Scottish Gaelic.

In Broadcast, students are introduced to the widest possible experience of modern broadcasting and media production combined with critical thinking and excellent practical skills.

Students on the BA Irish and History will receive intensive tuition in the Irish language with 3-4 hours of language instruction each week. Students on this pathway choose from a wide range of modules relating to Irish culture and society such as the short story, poetry, Gaelic identity, mythology and Scottish Gaelic.

In History, there is a wide choice of relevant modules spanning a long chronological period from Ancient History through to the Contemporary History of the late twentieth century.

Students on the BA Irish and Politics will combine advanced learning of the Irish language with a study of Politics. In Irish the focus is on the modern language and culture. Language modules examine core aspects of written and spoken Irish, covering subjects such as syntax, phonetics and semantics.

Politics examines areas such as conflict, co-operation, theories of society, the value and ethical basis of political ideas and action, and at politics in different national and historical contexts.

Students on this course will receive intensive tuition in Irish and Portuguese. You may also choose from a wide range of modules relating to Irish culture and society such as film-making, the short story, poetry, Gaelic identity, mythology and Scottish Gaelic, as well as a wide variety of literary, historical, social, cultural and linguistic aspects of Portuguese-speaking countries across the globe.

The degree takes four years to complete (which includes a period studying abroad).
