This full-time programme enables students to express their artistic potential through a variety of artistic traditions and methods. From their own personal studio space, students learn about ideas generation and problem solving methods to develop the initiative and confidence to make art.

The Fine Art Practice & Design course is aimed at students who have a strong interest in design, creativity and practical skills in art, craft and sculpture. Our course is designed to give you hands-on experience through practical demonstrations, workshops and studio practice sessions, so that you can design and create a wide range of unique craft, sculpture and fine art pieces. Throughout the course, you will learn practical skills such as ceramics, sculpture and fine art techniques, and our emphasis on drawing and design, painting, drawing, colour and light will ensure that you develop your artistic abilities.

This course is designed for those with a strong interest in design and learning about ceramics and craft skills. This hands-on course provides practical demonstrations from artist teachers, as well as guest artists. Students have the opportunity to design and create a wide range of unique ceramic, sculptural, and printed pieces, as well as upcycling and using sustainable materials.

This programme is designed for learners who wish to develop a focused, independent fine art practice with clear pathways to higher education and professional creative careers. The course places a strong emphasis on autonomous, studio-based learning, mirroring the expectations of third-level art colleges and professional practice environments.

This course aims to provide the training for candidates to provide STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting in accordance with Section. A-VI/1 of the STCW Code. On successful completion of the course, a trainee will be competent to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and of the ship and to use fire appliances correctly. The trainee will also have a knowledge of fire prevention.

This course is mandatory for a learner to complete a Second-Hand Limited or Second-Hand Full Certificate of Competency.

Our Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Fire Safety Engineering is a broad discipline covering a wide range of areas including fire prevention, detection, escape, suppression and control. The aim of this four year programme is to equip you with the engineering knowledge at a scientific and practical level to undertake both prescriptive and performance based fire design safety.

You will take core modules in mathematics, fire science, fluids, thermodynamics, building services, construction technology and structural design, along with general construction elements such as CAD, construction economics, land surveying and technical writing. You will then advance to fire safety subjects that take account of human behavior, fire and reliability modelling, fire structural design and fire engineering techniques.

This course aims to provide training for candidates in STCW Advanced Fire Fighting.

Seafarers designated to control fire-fighting operations on board a vessel shall complete advanced training in techniques for fighting fire, with particular emphasis on organisation, tactics and command.

Seafarers are required to demonstrate competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in table A-VI/3 of the STCW code.

First Year Studies at NCAD gives you the solid foundation that you require for entry into the variety of creative paths of study offered by the college. First Year Studies is a common entry course that leads our students to studying any one of the fourteen different studio specialisms available in NCAD

The School of Fine Art, Paint, Print, Sculpture , Media, Textile Art & Artefact and Ceramics & Glass ( Applied Hard Materials) ; and in the School of Design, Graphics, Illustration, Moving Image Design, Fashion Design, Textile Surface Design, Jewellery & Objects, Product Design and Interaction Design.

All these specialisms can also be studied as a Joint Honours Degree with Education or as a Studio specialism with Visual Culture.

The emphasis of the Fitness Instruction & Exercise Science course is to provide a variety of practical skill including the Fundamentals of Resistance Training programme design, Fitness Class instruction and Fitness Testing. Theory classes will enable the learners to understand the essentials of Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and Injury Prevention. Ultimately this will allow learners to progress to QQI Level 6 with ITEC Personal Training courses and to gain employment as a Gym Instructor and Life Guard.

This course provides a programme of learning as an access course to Higher Education for those who wish to progress to degree level courses in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Liberal Arts (Folklore & Mythology) programme aims to provide you with a strong foundation in a range of subjects, including Psychology, Folklore & Ethnology, English Literature, Classical Studies, research & study skills, communication skills, personal & professional development, and word processing.

During the Food & Agribusiness Management degree, you’ll learn how the principles of economics and business management apply to farming, food production and marketing. You’ll gain an understanding of how the Irish and international food systems deliver food products and services that people want, and how farmers and food manufacturers can produce profitably, while also taking care of the natural environment.

The four-year degree provides a unique opportunity to understand both business and science, focusing on the agri-food sector – Ireland’s largest indigenous industry. You will learn skills that can be used across a wide range of jobs both within and outside the agri-food sector.
