This course is designed to support students explore options for either work or for going on to further education whilst gaining their QQI Level 4 Major Award. Split over three phases, Kick Start offers optional training modules in areas such as hospitality/catering, retail skills, IT/office administration or they may opt for a general learning award whilst gaining practical work experience with an employer.

The Bachelor of Education through the Medium of Irish is aimed at students who wish to teach through the medium of Irish in Gaeltacht schools or in All-Irish Schools.

The aim of the programme is to offer individuals the opportunity to develop an understanding of the dynamics of supply chains and to enhance their ability to continually improve operational performance. For example, operational performance in relation to the flow of goods and information through the value chain from order, materials acquisition to final consumption, to maximise customer value and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.  

Optometry is a regulated primary healthcare profession. Optometrists are often the first professional to be consulted when an eye problem presents. Optometrists check vision and prescribe and fit spectacles and contact lenses as needed. For children or adults with problems coordinating their eyes, optometrists carry out patching and other forms of vision therapy to help people develop and maintain binocular vision.

This course provides learners with the opportunity to apply the study of human behaviour to the specific context of the work environment.

The course allows learners to examine management and employee working styles and workgroup dynamics to see how they can function together to improve workplace productivity. Learners will develop the competencies and skills to properly manage and understand the importance of creating a workable relationship between managers and employees to enhance business growth and performance.

Learners will apply psychological principles and research techniques to identify and solve problems in the workplace and will develop skills to address workplace conflict when it arises and to ensure swift and effectively.

The Course, which was established in 1987, is now recognised as the primary training opportunity for people interested in outdoor and adventure education. The course is based in the college campus in Kinsale, utilising the extensive resources and equipment available ashore and afloat.

This Common Entry degree offers three Award Options:

• Outdoor Education,
• Outdoor Education and Therapeutic Applications,
• Geography and Outdoor Education.

These degrees offer a unique blend of academic learning and adventure sports training. Students explore outdoor education’s therapeutic, developmental, and educational aspects, while also studying Ireland’s natural and cultural landscape, health, fitness, group facilitation, recreation management, teaching, and psychology.

This programme combines an exciting mix of academic study and skills training in adventure sports. You will build an understanding of the developmental and educational role of outdoor education and you will study the Irish landscape, safety, communications and teaching.

In addition you will gain an extensive range of National Governing Body awards in adventure sports such as rock climbing, surfing, hill walking, sailing, snorkeling, caving and kayaking.

The Outdoor Leadership programme has been designed specifically to facilitate learners seeking a pathway to employment in the outdoor and adventure tourism industry.

Successful candidates will graduate with multiple qualifications from QQI, National Governing Bodies (NGB) for Sport and Coaching Ireland. Through practical experiential activities, learners develop personal skills and competencies in outdoor activity modules and then learn how to apply those skills to instruct and train others in the various outdoor activity areas.

The programme provides candidates with the opportunity to obtain the necessary skills to earn a variety of professional instructor training awards that lead directly to employment in the industry.
