The BSc in Software Development is a three- year Level 7 degree programme designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary to gain employment in the software development industry. More specifically, the programme will provide students with relevant skills and knowledge in the area of modern software development focusing on languages, techniques, tools and methodologies and their application to real world problems.

Software development is the creation and maintenance of software products. These products range from mobile phone apps to highly complex software control systems such as those found in self- driving cars.

In the broader sense, it includes everything from initial concept identification and design through to the final production of software. It can include identification of required software, analysis of software requirements, system design, programming, testing and maintenance.
