The undergraduate Visual Art programme at SETU Waterford offers students the opportunity to work broadly and experimental across a wide range of fine art media and practices, these include; drawing, painting, sculpture, print-making, photography, performance, video and digital media.

Students are introduced to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. No previous computer skills are required.

Visual Communication is the art of problem- solving and communication through the use of type, space, and image. It presents the idea that a graphic message has the power to inform, educate, or persuade a person or audience. It can be presented as a still image, or motion graphics, including sound, and in some cases, interactive activity.

You will produce artwork for print, interface design, motion graphics, illustration, photography, typography, packaging, branding, advertising campaigns and much more!

The three-year course is designed to facilitate a transition from novice student to creative practitioner. Students are taught a variety of design and pratical skills to achieve this.

This highly practical course features a studio environment where students complete projects in a variety of 2D design disciplines, such as: branding; illustration; packaging; typography; advertising; layout; signage; websites; mobile devices; games; moving image video and animation.

Visual Communication and Design is a problem-solving practice that uses image, text, print and screen to communicate messages. Visual merchandising is the practice in the retail industry of developing floor plans and three-dimensional displays to maximise sales.

You’ll develop mastery in the theory and strategies of visual merchandising, practical competence in the skills needed for retail display, and an understanding of brand image and consumer behaviour and be able to operate at a high level in the retail industry.

This programme will allow you to develop a range of skills for professional vocal performance in a variety of contexts.  You will also develop your scholarly knowledge and inquiry through engaging academic studies focused on singing and artistic practice in educational, social, community and health settings.

You will focus and advance your vocal performance practice through individual voice lessons combined with group performance, ensemble and musicianship classes. Vocalists engaged in this course at the Irish World Academy will explore a range of vocal styles and traditions. Students enter the programme from popular (CCM), music theatre/stage school, singer/songwriter, folk, sacred or choral backgrounds (among others). You will find that the core aspects of the programme will support your development across multiple styles, broadening your singing and developing functional awareness of your instrument.
