The BComm in International Hotel Management at Shannon College incorporates a full Commerce Degree with an emphasis on hospitality, tourism and the development of communication and leadership skills. Students have the opportunity to study on two universities campuses and experience 21 months of paid international work placement as part of this exciting degree programme.  

Commerce International (BCIT) combines a flexible business education from Ireland’s leading business school with the linguistic skills and cultural understanding to succeed in the exciting world of international business. Students of the BCIT course are well-grounded in the theory and practice of business management and equipped to understand and comment critically on business issues.

To achieve a truly global perspective on business, it is necessary to immerse yourself in the culture and not just learn the vocabulary. As part of the course, BCIT students will also take a range of literature and culture modules from the UCD School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics.

Led by the Irish Hotels Federation, this two-year apprenticeship combines practical on-the-job training (3–4 days per week) with academic off-the-job learning (1–2 days per week). City of Dublin FET College, Crumlin in association with the Irish Hotel Federation is delighted to bring this two year apprenticeship programme.  Succesful candidates obtain an advance Level 6 QQI Qualification in Culinary Arts.  This course is a combination of practical skills and essential theory, both on and off the job, which fosters a comprehensive understanding of the key principles of our trade Apprentices will develop the underpinning theory, science and culinary skills and refine and perfect these competencies to a professional standard while under the direction of experienced, qualified chefs. The course in City of Dublin FET College, Crumlin is taught by Kevin O'Toole and Emmet Reilly, who between them they have over fifty years of industry experience.

Modules are designed to provide you with a mastery of the discipline of law through the study of the core legal subjects which are considered essential to achieving a recognised bachelor’s degree in each country; e.g. Contract Law, Tort Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Equity and Trusts, EU Law, Land Law, Administrative Law, the Law of Evidence, etc.

If you’d like to qualify for in-demand quantitative roles in the insurance and financial industry, the Common Entry into Actuarial and Financial Mathematics programme (CAFM) might be for you. It’s especially ideal if you’d like the flexibility to explore different areas of maths before choosing how you’ll specialise.

The BA in Communications is a three-year full-time programme which aims to give learners an introduction to communications platforms including photography, radio, journalism, and TV. The course involves both practical and academic projects and gives students the chance to work in real journalistic situations over the course of six semesters.

The curriculum focuses on the core principles of verbal and non-verbal communication, ensuring students can convey and interpret information accurately during standard everyday tasks.
