This course is exclusively for mature students with intellectual disabilities with an interest in film, animation, photography and design.

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to work in a creative media setting, using some initiative and independence while under general direction and or to progress to further or higher education and training.

On this course, you will learn the fundamentals of marketing and media analysis, while also developing your creative ability using computers.

The BFA program examines all of the main areas of creative writing, with introductory courses on the discipline as a whole, courses on the technical requirements and the analysis of creative writing, and specific courses exploring the practical aspects of composing novels, short stories, poems, scripts and screenplays. As the student progresses, the program makes increasing use of the workshop method of teaching, and in the final stages there are opportunities for approved students to undertake extended independent writing projects. The student may combine the major in creative writing with other majors offered by the institution, depending on his or her interests; these include performing arts, liberal arts and international business, either as a double major or as minors.

This one year course provides an extensive introduction to a wide range creative writing, media, literature, and culture.

Participants will produce writing for fiction, scripts for theatre, television, radio, and film, as well as for journalism. Students will be introduced to a wide range of literature appropriate to all modules on offer, and there are numerous opportunities to attend theatre productions, films, media events, and other cultural events throughout the year.

On completion, each student will have an exciting portfolio, a selection of which will be professionally published in the end of year publication.

The BA in Creative Writing and English offers you the opportunity to develop critical and creative skills within one programme, which is innovative not only for its integration of two intertwined subjects, but for its industry links and its teaching practices.

Graduates of the BA in Creative Writing and English will be equipped with: skills in creative thinking; the ability to formulate, present and disseminate complex issues; excellent communication skills; a highly-tuned sensitivity to language usage; the ability to tell and organise stories in compelling ways; an understanding of how to inhabit alternative viewpoints and outlooks. he BA (Criminal Justice) is a four-year, inter-disciplinary degree programme. In each semester, you will study a combination of modules from Law, Sociology, Politics and Public Administration. An exposure to each of these disciplines ensures that you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system and how it reacts to and regulates the society within which it operates. To further enhance your learning during the programme, you will study some Psychology modules which will aid in understanding human behaviour and the motivations of those who commit crime along with the behaviors of other actors in the criminal justice system such as police, judges and juries. Modules in Management will also give you core skills which are essential for future administrative roles within the criminal justice sector.

The BA (Hons) in Criminal Justice Studies is a three year degree course designed to equip the student with general knowledge and transferable skills while focusing on the broad theme of criminal justice. It is a multidisciplinary course.

This postgraduate certificate explores recent design history from a critical perspective and proposes new theoretical frameworks for design that are matriarchal, eco-centered, and non-anthropocentric.

The course begins by examining the philosophical foundations of design, particularly those of the Enlightenment period, and their impact on contemporary design practice, and contribution to the multiple crisis in the Anthropocene.

The aim of this programme is to provide learners with an awareness of workplace critical incident stress and to develop key competencies, skills and knowledge in the field of managing and responding appropriately to critical/ traumatic incidents across a wide and diverse range of occupational contexts The programme, which incorporates ICISF Individual and Group Crisis Interventions addresses the important issue of protecting the psychological health and safety of workers in occupational groups likely to be exposed to critical incidents during the course of their work in compliance with national policy.

As a student in our Crop Science Programme, you will learn about the science, production, and management of crops from genes to fields. With a focus on agronomy, you will explore crop production and soil management to improve yield and quality. Our expert faculty members are active researchers in the rapidly developing field of agriculture and agribusiness. In addition to a strong foundation in basic sciences, you will have the opportunity to study emerging crop pathogens, organic agriculture, climate and soils, and plants and diets.

This course provides students with the latest technology, information and management skills necessary for a career in tillage farming and industries ancillary to tillage farming. The course is suitable for those:

• Preparing to take over the family tillage farm
• Seeking further training in farm management
• Seeking employment in the agri-business service sector
• Transferring to Year 2 of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Waterford IT

Students initially complete a 16-week practical learning period from August until November. Practical learning options include large-scale tillage farms, contractors or machinery dealerships. Course work (20 weeks) is delivered by Kildalton College. The course content includes machinery operation and maintenance, mechanisation, crop husbandry and financial management. The course includes field trips and outside involvement from the industry.

On successful completion of the programme students are awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture. This award meets the training requirements for Stamp Duty Exemption and DAFM Schemes.

The Level 6 Advanced Certificate is the Teagasc recommended education pathway for a technician. The two-year pathway incorporates the Level 5 Certificate and the Level 6 Advanced Certificate. The initial application should be made to the Teagasc Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture course.
