The law degree will appeal to you if you are interested in society and how it works, how we regulate the relationships between people. Given the wide range of legal modules, the degree attracts students with a broad range of interests. Those interested in politics are attracted to subjects such as constitutional law.

With a degree in Politics and International Relations, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to analyse the complex interplay between national and international political institutions, systems and forces. In first year, you will be introduced to the core areas of politics, giving you a solid foundation for future study. In subsequent years, you will pursue the areas of politics and international relations that interest you most.  

Our Politics and International Studies degree provides:

This interdisciplinary course combines the study of Politics, Economics and Social Science and gives an understanding of the interactions between economic, social and political processes. This course covers how governments, policies and international relations work, learning to understand people and businesses, markets and governments, and how to respond to national and global changes, whilst understanding society, human behaviour and relationships.

Students will have the option of taking a language, Irish, French or Spanish, along with EuropeanStudies. These qualifications can be used to progress to a variety of degree and certificate programmes in a wide range of Universities.

The BA (Honours) in Politics, Society and Media is a pioneering Level 8 degree that immerses students in the dynamic landscape of contemporary civic society. Designed for students who are passionate about making a meaningful contribution to the political and social environment, it offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary exploration of the forces that shape the world around them, and how, as media practitioners, they can communicate and advocate for change. It equips learners with the skills, knowledge and practical experience to make effective contributions to civic society, with an ethical framework for exercising critical judgement.

The honours degree in polymer and mechanical engineering is offered in response to the demand for highly skilled graduates with training in mechanical engineering fundamentals, emphasising specific technologies and methodologies associated with polymer engineering.

This MA in Popular Music Practice focuses on the development and execution of a large–scale, individually tailored music–related project. This project will help you to grow within your areas of specialism and become ready to take the next step in your career.

Over a full year of study (two years if you have chosen the part-time option), you will be pushed to expand and develop your personal, musical and industry practices. Focus on the ways that research, collaboration, performance, production and more can be aligned in your project and practice.

The programme will appeal to candidates wishing to take on roles such as port managers, o shore energy project managers, maritime logistics coordinators, and sustainability o icers within maritime and o shore energy companies.

While this programme does not provide a direct entry into the NMCI MSc in Global Sustainable SCM and MSc in Maritime Operations programmes it is a micro-credential contained within both programmes encouraging continuing education.

This course will prepare you to teach at post-primary level in two languages. You will take Gaeilge, along with a choice of either French, German or Spanish. 

Alongside developing your language abilities, the course also builds your skills in the areas of teamwork, leadership, communication and creativity. These are vital for a career in post primary teaching, but are also key to a variety of other professions. In this four-year course, you’ll benefit from studying in small class groups within the larger university community.

As well as learning the skills you need to be an effective teacher, you will also immerse yourself in the ideas and theories of theology, religious studies and ethics; and explore the rich and fascinating world of English literature.

You’ll learn how to think intelligently, imaginatively, and independently about storytelling and song-making in civilization, from classical texts to contemporary pop culture. In addition to teacher education, you’ll develop your skills in teamwork, leadership, communication and creativity.

The Level 6 Advanced Certificate is the Teagasc recommended education pathway for a technician. The two-year pathway incorporates the Level 5 Certificate and the Level 6 Advanced Certificate. The initial application should be made to the Teagasc Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture course.
