Across the 4 years of this course, you will gradually develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to become a passionate teacher and advocate for the Home Economics and Technology subjects.

The four-year programme will be delivered through a partnership of DCU and Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). The first two years of study will take place at the TUS Athlone campus, and the final two years at the DCU Institute of Education in Dublin.

The Level 6 Advanced Certificate is the Teagasc recommended education pathway for a technician. The two-year pathway incorporates the Level 5 Certificate and the Level 6 Advanced Certificate. The initial application should be made to the Teagasc Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture course.

This one year full-time programme will introduce students to the world of Engineering. It aims to provide students with a wide range of experience within the Engineering sectors, while preparing students for entry into third level education, apprenticeships or direct entry into the workplace. Students will attend our purpose built engineering training workshop for one full day weekly. Here the students will use and learn how to operate different engineering machines including a CNC Lathe, a Laser Cutter and all welding types, including a VR welding simulator.

This programme will allow students to become familiar with the terminology, materials, equipment and working practices within the Engineering industry. The course content will be delivered in a practical and hands on environment where students will gain experience in Engineering Processes, Engineering Drawing and Computer Aided Design (2D and 3D CAD).

This programme provides a foundation for those intending to pursue a career with An Garda Síochana, the Defence Forces or Security Organisations by focusing on a number of key areas important to the sector. Further studies in the area of Criminology, law and word processing help the learner develop skills and techniques for a career in business and commerce.

The aim of this progarmme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work independently and under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

This course serves as a pre-university pathway for both primary and post-primary teaching, catering especially to individuals aspiring to embark on a career as educators in these levels. It will also be beneficial for mature students seeking a career change towards teaching. It is designed to equip participants for their educational journey, moulding them into compassionate and inspirational teachers and educators.

This course is for students seeking to train for a career in Accounting and Finance.

This course will enable students to develop good culinary skills and pastry skills. Students will study Food Science, Food Technology, International Cuisines, Word Processing, Personal Effectiveness, Food Hygiene and develop an understanding of Menu Planning, Menu Design, and Meal Service.

This course is an introductory year to the three-year apprenticeship programme aimed at school leavers and mature applicants who are considering a career in the Hairdressing Industry.

The programme aims to ensure that theoretical learning in a Further Education Centre to prepare you for our 3 year Apprentice program.

This practical training course is intended for learners who want to work in the construction industry and undergo a SOLAS apprenticeship in areas such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, block-laying or plastering.

The course content is designed to give learners a variety of construction trade experiences and allow learners to make informed choices about their apprenticeship careers into the future. It also prepares students for progression to third level studies if so desired.

This one-year course provides a solid foundation in dental nursing practices, encompassing essential clinical skills, patient care techniques, and knowledge of dental procedures.

The course introduces students to methods of study, writing, research and IT skills. The course is aimed at students who do not have the entry requirement for courses or the English language requirement for access to these courses.

The course has been designed to meet the needs of the security industry in line with the terms of the Private Security Services Act 2004. It is particularly relevant for students who are interested in a career in An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces, the Prison Service, the Naval Service and the Private Security Industry.
