This four year programme enables students to become architectural technologists with additional advanced skills in Building Information Technology (BIM). Students will become competent in the ‘science of building’ and the production of construction drawings and specifications for complex building types, allowing them to become technical members of construction design teams.

The award winning BEng Hons Architectural Engineering has been designed for innovative individuals with an interest in building services and renewable technologies.

You will study the design of heating and cooling systems for buildings, electrical and energy supply and use, and water supply and disposal. You will also examine the legislations that affect the built environment and the need for a radical and sustainable approach to building services if the environmental impact of existing/new buildings is to be dramatically reduced.

The aim of this programme is to produce graduates with an in-depth knowledge and a range of high-level skills and competencies necessary to succeed as an architectural technologist in the modern age - either in an architectural practice, in engineering, manufacturing and even graphic design. 

This one-year Higher National Certificate prepares students to work alongside architects and engineers by teaching construction fundamentals like CAD, Surveying, and Design. Learners engage in realistic studio projects, using the latest software to visualize buildings from inception to completion. The program also includes practical study trips to further investigate professional architectural technology in the field.

CAD technology is used to create graphics and make calculations needed in the production of drawings, three-dimensional simulations, models and other design work. The Architectural Technology and Design course (Year 1) enables students to gain a knowledge of architectural design and the built environment, while considering construction materials and the needs of clients. Students gain hands- on experience of the latest technologies in use in the architectural industry, which includes Autodesk software such as Autocad and Revit.

This fully funded Traineeship provides a variety of modules which relate to the design/ drawing/CAD/IT skills required within the construction sector. This course is suitable for learners who wish to further their career in this industry and will enable them to make an immediate contribution in the workplace.

The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Management course is based on a modular structure across two semesters and is available as a four year sandwich course (although students with the necessary industrial experience may be exempted from placement).

The course is also available in a part-time mode of study which involves students taking the course over five years (there is no placement year), and attending and completing all modules alongside the full-time students. The course leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honors in Architectural Technology and Management.

The DPP (Diploma in Professional Practice) is awarded on successful completion of an approved industrial placement year.
