This one-year QQI Level 5 course provides a comprehensive foundation in sustainable building construction, emphasizing the critical role green practices play in the future of the built environment. Students develop essential skills in design, architectural drawing, and environmental impact assessment methodologies while navigating the economic, social, and regulatory landscapes governing the industry. Sustainable Energy Engineering involves the understanding and application of the engineering and technological principles of energy conversion and use. Modules are delivered by staff from many different disciplines, allowing the student to gain understanding of the roles of a range of engineering disciplines involved in the energy and sustainability field. Sites visits are organised which have included: wind farms, hydroelectric power stations, and solar installations.

The course investigates renewable energy sources, such as wind energy, solar energy and other heat sources. You’ll learn about the design and operation of wind turbines, solar energy panels and other equipment associated with alternative energy.

The first two years of the course will introduce you to the fundamental areas of engineering. Sustainable Timber Technology is an exciting 4-year, full-time immersive course featuring a mix of theoretical and skills-based modules. It supports students in development of skills and knowledge that enable them to take on technical and managerial roles throughout the timber industry once graduated, including in sawmills and board mills, factories making timber construction, joinery and furniture, innovation and technical sales.

The Sustainable Fashion Design course opens many opportunities in the fashion design industry. Sustainable Fashion Design students focus on designing and making sustainable clothing for the circular economy. Design for circular fashion involves designing garments with the planet and climate in mind and focuses on ideals of longevity, durability and planning for the life cycle of the garment.

Pattern drafting and garment construction provide the learner with the skills required to make their own outfits based on their own designs. All coursework combines to form a portfolio suitable for application to Degree programmes, although most of our students choose to progress to our Advanced Fashion Design course.

This programme has been designed to afford students the opportunity to develop their creativity, artistic identity, and introductory to tattoo artistry skills and knowledge. Students may further their experience in the Tattoo Industry through a work experience placement. This course is a stepping stone to employment in a Tattoo Parlour. An apprenticeship as a Tattoo Artist or setting up a business. Progression to third level is an option, such as Art, Craft & Design colleges and various media courses around the country.

The course offers a diverse range of modules to enhance your understanding of the Irish Education system. It also focuses on building the key skills: communication, critical reflection, and research skills necessary for educational settings.

This course has been developed to meet the training requirements of graduates from other non-agricultural award programme who are interested in farming.
