The BEng Hons Mechanical Engineering with Enterprise Development will prepare you to become a professional engineer, working on electronic products and systems, from research and design to installation and sales.Your job may be to take an idea frm conception to final product.

This course perfectly blends mechanical engineering and electronic engineering. It offers classes in 3D modelling and design, for example, as well as circuit design and programming. Gain knowledge for the real world
In third year, you’ll get to do a six-month INTRA work placement and throughout the course, you’ll do lots of project-based learning where you use the latest real-world tools and technologies to solve problems and, of course, build robots. That’s not all. You’ll also take some business-based modules, so you can learn how to develop a business plan and work with other parts of an enterprise.

While you can go on from this course to work in either mechanical or electronic engineering, our graduates typically end up in roles where they incorporate one into the other. For example, they might put sensors into a machine to measure aspects of how it’s working or develop control systems for a lift or a car. Either way, mechatronics graduates are in huge demand.

Mechatronics is the combination of mechanics, electronics, robotics and computing that is used in modern engineering industries. It involves the study of automation from an engineering perspective and serves the purpose of controlling advanced hybrid systems in business and industry.

In this work-based version of our campus course, you will spend three days a week in the workplace and two days a week studying online from IT Sligo, Ireland's largest and most experienced institute in online learning.

You will learn how to analyse, design, and control the type of machines and processes that are used, for example, in biomedical, automotive manufacture and high-speed automation. As a Mechatronic Systems graduate you will be equally at home in the mechanical or electronic domain and will be a specialist in interfacing computer-controlled systems.

This is a one-year full-time programme which enables learners to develop their visual skills and explore their creativity though digital and practical processes. This course would suit someone who has an interest in Media, Art and Graphic Design. Opportunities to participate in educational trips, talks and workshops are available.

This one-year full time course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to work as a media professional both independently and in a supervisory capacity in a fully functioning radio station. The programme is designed to give the learner ample opportunity to hone key skills working in a live broadcasting environment, develop an understanding of an ever changing and growing media industry and build a portfolio of work as a media professional, broadcaster and journalist.

Working in a studio-based environment, our hands-on production modules and specialist workshops focus on digital content creation and will have you thinking, designing and creating right from the start. This degree is designed to be fluid, responding to both your interests and the ever-changing industry landscape. With a complementary suite of practical and theoretical modules, all aspects of the course inform and are informed by each other. 

In our Media Studies degree students will study the principles and practices of audio-visual production and interactive web authoring, how to research and analyse media cultures, genres and industries, and the role of media in society and politics.

Students engage in independent and group projects to develop their media practice and have a flexible range of optional modules to expand their critical understanding.

This course is designed to prepare students for front-line receptionist duties with a particular emphasis on a Medical/Health Service environment. This course not only equips the learner with the administrative and IT skills needed to work in a modern office but also develops transversal skills which are sought after in today’s working environment. In addition, the Medical Terminology module equips the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the range of medical terminology applicable and relevant specifically to a medical receptionist or secretarial role in a medical practice, clinic and or hospital context.

This specialised certificate is designed to assist the learner with gaining direct employment to administrative roles within the public and private sectors, including roles in medical, dental and legal practices. This certificate can also be used to gain entry to degree programmes.

This one-year QQI Level 5 certificate course is designed to give you a nationally recognised vocational qualification that enables you to work in both the medical/dental and general secretarial environments. It provide learners with the knowledge and skills to meet the specialist administrative and secretarial needs of a range of health care occupations as found in hospitals, community health, general and private practice, research, the pharmaceutical industry and complementary medicine.

The course is based around general areas of administration and business, secretarial skills, key concepts of computing and its uses in the workplace. The course enables learners to progress directly into employment.
