A Motor Mechanic is a skilled technician who services, diagnoses and resolves technical concerns with light passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. This apprenticeship programme covers a range of key motor mechanic skills and knowledge which are essential in the workplace. The programme consists of 7 phases in total combining a mixture of ‘on the job’ learning and on campus training.

With this four-year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified motor mechanic, with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Motor Mechanics.

You may then choose to work as a motor mechanic in the motor industry in a dealership, repair shop or test centres like the NCT.

The Bachelor of Music full-time degree programme is designed to educate music students to a professional level as performers (both classical and Irish traditional). It also prepares students for careers as instrumental or vocal teachers, as composers and musicology graduates.

This four-year programme places a major emphasis on performance combined with supporting academic study. The BA (Hons) in Music is a four year full-time degree which aims to give the student a well-rounded third level music education. The course offers a balance between practical and theoretical modules within the context of the principal music genres (classical, Irish traditional, jazz and popular). The undergraduate music degree programme at the School of Arts and Humanities at Ulster University is based around four core elements: Performance, Composition, Musicology and Music Technology.

Year 1 is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of musical styles, genres and disciplines enabling them to develop existing skills and interests as well as acquire a range of new ones. Note: All year 1 modules are compulsory for BMus students.

Year 2 allows students the opportunity to begin specialising by introducing a number of optional modules as well as level 2 modules in the four core disciplines.

Year 3 enables students to focus their degree programme in one or more related areas of specialist interest with a broad range of advanced level modules. Placement presents students the opportunity to take part in an internship with a local music or arts organisation while the Project options allow students to pursue an independent course of research or practical work in a chosen field of musical study.
