The BSc Honours Degree in Social Work is a professional qualification that meets the requirements of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council. Training to become a social worker involves a mixture of academic study and professional practice learning opportunities for a total of 185 days during the Degree. During Practice Placements (two episodes of 85 days and 100 days) students will work full time alongside social work practitioners and supported and assessed by a Practice Teacher. A range of placement opportunities are provided by a wide range of agency partners from Health and Social Care Trusts and other voluntary and statutory agencies and these providers are integral to the development and delivery of the programme.

The design and delivery of this ‘fast track’ degree programme is premised on the relevant graduate qualities of the applicant in meeting the demands of this accelerated learning programme.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) will make you eligible to apply to be registered as a social worker with regulatory bodies in Ireland and internationally. This full-time four-year undergraduate degree is open to mature students only, and integrates university-based and agency-based learning. Successful completion leads to an academic qualification (BSW) and it is approved by the Health and Social Care Professional Council as a social work training course.

This four year honours degree prepares graduates to work as software and electronic engineers in a variety of research and development settings within the tech industry. ATU has one of the most highly valued Software & Electronic Engineering qualifications in Ireland. Participants will build on their existing knowledge of software development. The main programming languages taught are Java and Visual Basic (VB). On this course, Java is used mainly to build mobile apps for the Android platform whereas Visual Basic is used to teach Graphical User Interface (GUI) programming. There is a strong emphasis on experiential learning with students learning by doing (rather than by observing).

Software Design for Mobile Apps and Connected Devices is a course that teaches students how to design and develop software applications for mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, and IoT devices. The course covers topics such as user interface design, data management, networking, security, testing, and deployment. Students will learn how to use various tools and frameworks to create software solutions that are responsive, reliable, and user-friendly.

The aim of this exciting new degree is to provide a multidisciplinary undergraduate education by developing specific expertise and comprehensive training in the key areas relevant to the emerging Internet of Things: mobile app development, connected device programming and software development/engineering.

The goal is to produce qualified and well-rounded graduates capable of working in a range of IT positions such as Internet of Things mobile app developers, programmers, system integrators and system validators.
