The Applied Science – Forensics program is a practical, foundational course designed to introduce students to the rigorous discipline of forensic science and criminology. The curriculum focuses heavily on hands-on technical skills, training students in modern evidence collection and laboratory analysis techniques, including fingerprinting, hair and fiber analysis, footprint casting, blood spatter examination, and DNA profiling. Alongside specific forensic methodologies, the course emphasizes strict laboratory safety protocols and fosters essential transferable competencies such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and technical communication. 

This program offers a comprehensive scientific foundation across biology, chemistry, and physics, placing a strong emphasis on the development of practical laboratory techniques. This course will prepare the learner for direct employment or for progression to third level and is accepted for entry to most science, food science, nutrition or health related courses in Ireland.

This course also includes maths, biology, chemistry, physics and IT skills. These subjects are common to all first year science qualifications and give students an advantage over students entering directly from leaving certificate.

The Pharmacy Assistant program is a practical foundation course designed to meet the growing workforce demands of Ireland's expanding community pharmacy sector. With nearly 2,000 pharmacies nationwide expanding their clinical workloads to include health advice, vaccinations, and basic health check-ups alongside traditional medicine dispensing, this course equips students with the vital competencies required to support pharmacists effectively. The curriculum provides a robust grounding in medical terminology, basic science, and the commercial management of over-the-counter (OTC) products, cosmetics, baby care, and health supplements. Furthermore, students have the valuable opportunity to complete the industry-recognized Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) Medicine Counter Assistant award, establishing a strong professional standard.

Social care is a dynamic, challenging and ever-changing career, reflecting and responding to the needs of those who are most in danger of poverty and social exclusion, and/or who find themselves at the margins of society.

Social care workers work with children, young people, adults, families, individuals with disabilities, asylum seekers, and/or with people experiencing challenges such as homeless, addiction, mental health difficulties to name just a few. During your study, you will learn about psychology, sociology, law, addiction, trauma, racism, culture and more, to understand and critically evaluate society and apply your knowledge to social care practice.

The overall aim is to develop reflective and ethically-aware practitioners with the capacity to build professional relationships, in partnership with vulnerable individuals and groups who experience marginalisation, disadvantage or special needs.

This one-year Level 6 course provides a clear progression route for QQI Level 5 healthcare, childcare, and psychology graduates wanting to expand their knowledge of mental health and disability awareness. Learners examine the unique needs of vulnerable groups while exploring the strategies, support models, and best-practice initiatives used to foster a more inclusive society. Additionally, the program focuses on developing essential group facilitation and interpersonal skills, equipping graduates to work effectively with individuals on both a one-to-one and a group-based basis within the community care sector.

This one-year NFQ Level 5 full time course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to the area of sociology and social studies. This programme will provide the learner with the opportunity to develop their understanding, awareness, knowledge, research and study skills and competence in the area of Applied Social Studies so that they may proceed to work in the social care sector or progress to further or higher study.

The Applied Social Studies course allows students the opportunity to study the impact of society on how we interact, behave and relate as people. It looks at key topics such as culture, racism, addiction and mental health. The course involves a combination of academic and practical skills. It enables the learners to develop key skills in caring for others and themselves while fostering the ability to think critically and in a less judgemental way. The course also provides students with the opportunity to progress to level 6 and level 8 courses in different colleges and universities.

The aim of this one year full time course is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision in a range of social care settings or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.
