This one year course, similar to our other arts programme, aims to prepare participants for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges.   However, the Liberal arts option attributes more of a focus on The Arts, English Literature and European languages.  It will aim to prepare participants for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges as well as preparing students to work in a European environment both in Ireland and abroad. Students will have the option of taking a language, Irish or Spanish, along with European Studies or can focus on a more English Literature based course, which will lead to a general studies option.

Classical Languages

The study of Classical Languages is concerned with the language, literature and thought of either Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome. You will choose to study either Greek or Latin. Through the reading of literature in the original language and the examination of key aspects of ancient history, you will develop a thorough knowledge of the classical world and a critical approach to textual and material culture.

The combined study of Computer Science and Linguistics yields opportunities for graduates to specialise in computational speech and language processing or text analysis. Linguistics often appeals to students who are curious about language as one of the most fascinating aspects of human knowledge and behaviour.

Modern Language

Within the Modern Languages programme you study two modern European languages. It is the most intensive exposure to languages and cultures that Trinity College has to offer. You can choose between French, German, Irish, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Apart from French and Irish all languages can be studied from both advanced and beginners level

Philosophy

This course offers the opportunity to engage in depth with questions of metaphysics (about the fundamental nature of reality), epistemology (the theory of knowledge), ethics (theories of right and wrong), political philosophy (the nature of the just state), philosophy of religion (reasoning about God), philosophy of mind (questions about thought, language and reason) and various other areas.

The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to the study of literature and culture in an Irish context. The course further aims to equip learners with knowledge, skill and competence to critically approach artistic and literary production in Ireland. Learners will explore texts and artefacts from a range of perspectives to understand how cultural identify is both shaped and perceived.

In addition to gaining an excellent grounding in Anglo-Irish Literature and Irish culture, learners will also study History and Psychology to better frame their understanding of literature and cultural developments in an Irish context. The course also offers learners the opportunity to develop their creative writing and a range of practical skills in a friendly and supportive environment led by highly experienced teachers.

This Level 5 QQI course will introduce students to logistics and distribution, which is the management of the flow of goods in a business environment, using supply chain operations. During this course you will study key industry specific areas such as Warehousing, Freight Forwarding, Inventory Control, Supply Chain Operation and Purchasing.

Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information, and other resources including energy and people, between the point of origin and the point of consumption, in order to meet the requirements of consumers.

The graduate will be provided with the wide-ranging knowledge and skills necessary to function as an effective professional in a national and international context, and will display a capacity for critical enquiry, capable are working in an environment of persistent change.

A logistics associate typically liaises with transportation companies to create a good working relationship. It will involve preparation of invoices for orders and deliveries as part of record keeping measures. Record-keeping of shipping, road and air freight activities, documenting procedures, guidelines and changes in procedures for reference purposes. A logistics associate is responsible for ensuring compliance with customs duties, controls, tariff, international conventions and agreements.

Those that successfully complete the programme will be awarded a Level 6 Higher Certificate from MTU.

You will develop advanced level skills in practical technical units, where you will apply your creative talents as a make-up artist. Technical skills include fashion and editorial make-up techniques, and special effects make-up techniques for the Television, Film and Theatre industry. This advanced programme will support progression directly to careers in many areas of the Make-Up Artistry industry or on to Higher Education. You will also have the opportunity to complete an award in Education and Training, that will support you to teach others these skills.

The BSc (Hons) Management course at Ulster is a degree that puts a major emphasis on personal and skills development in relation to management and leadership. The DCU Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Technology and Information Systems is a Level 8 (on the National Framework of Qualifications), honours degree programme, which provides students with critical insight into the application of Information Technology and Information Systems to the processes of management, administration and innovation within a range of businesses and organisations. Graduates of the programme will emerge with a unique mix of skills in IT, IS and business.

The course provide learners with a portfolio of skills required to work in the Business Management, Human Resource Management and Law areas of an organisation whilst also providing the necessary entry requirements for entry to Third level.
