During each semester, you’ll complete a clinical placement, which ensures you’ll meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) requirements. Our health service provider partners offer diverse clinical settings, giving you a broad range of clinical learning opportunities across all the primary mental health specialities. For this course, they are:

• Dublin North City Mental Health Services
• North Dublin Mental Health Services

Over the duration of the course, students will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to care for people experiencing mental health challenges. Student’s academic and clinical knowledge will be developed using simulated learning environments and modern learning spaces.

Students gain their clinical experience in a diversity of clinical placements, caring for people experiencing mental health challenges. Mental health nursing clinical placements account for fifty percent of this course. In preparation for clinical placement students attend practical classes in the Clinical Skills laboratory.

Nursing practice, rooted in compassion, draws upon extensive knowledge and experience to provide physical and psychological care of the highest quality. Nurses take centre stage in ensuring efficient and effective delivery of accessible, integrated and consumer-driven healthcare, creatively designing health related services, and ensure quality through advocacy, policy-making, service management, education and research. 

This exciting degree prepares you to meet the mental health needs of adults and their families. You will study in university and across a wide range of mental health services. Most importantly you will learn from those who are experts by experience: people living with or who have experienced mental health difficulties. You will develop the skills to engage with those suffering mental distress or illness, as well as their families, in a positive and collaborative way, empowering them to cope and recover.

The BSc. (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing will provide students with knowledge, skills, attitude, and professional behaviours necessary to provide high quality care and competent nursing practice in an ever-changing health care environment.

The BSc Nursing (Mental Health) programme is designed to ensure that you graduate with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to deliver recovery focused compassionate care, responsive to the mental health needs of individuals and communities within evolving healthcare settings. The graduate will be able to work collaboratively and in partnership with service users, their families/carers, the wider community and other health professionals in providing a proactive, evidence-based quality holistic service.

This programme aims to enable students to develop knowledge, competencies, attitudes and skills to enable them to function effectively as professional nurses in a healthcare environment providing recovery focused individualised care. The programme provides opportunities for development of the fundamental nursing skills and allows the student to adapt these skills to a variety of populations and environments. It will foster and nurture the ethos for the student around the necessity for the continuation of professional development throughout their career. 

This four-year BSc (Hons) in Psychiatric Nursing offered in conjunction with HSE West and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) has been developed in response to the changing mental health needs of the Irish population. The role of the mental health nurse is to foster the health and well-being of individuals experiencing changes in their mental health status.

People with a mental illness are cared for in many different places such as hospitals, hostels, day centres, in the community and their own homes. We want to promote positive attitudes to mental health and to help people deal with any mental/emotional challenges they face in life.

Our Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing is a four year course that will prepare you for a fulfilling career in mental health and associated fields. It’s a fascinating and rewarding career in every regard. This course will ensure you acquire the specialist skills to work in the mental health sectors. 

This programme provides an introduction to the field of Mental Health as it applies to the broad spectrum of professions. The course content covers subjects relevant to those seeking to progress to further studies in the aforementioned areas as well as the humanities field. The course may also be of interest to those with existing qualifications and skills who are looking to gain insight and understanding of how mental health theory applies to their field. The course might be of interest to all different ages of students and can be an add on course to existing medical / social care / educational workers who have interests in mental health awareness.

A metal fabricator will be involved in the installation and manufacture of a range of metallic systems to include pressure vessels; tank and boiler manufacture; structural steel systems; plate steel systems and piping systems.

The job entails the reading of drawings and working with materials such as low carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and aluminium. A metal fabricator uses skills such as measuring, marking out, cutting and welding materials using different processes and assembly techniques. A metal fabricator may also work outdoors and may be required to work at heights.

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, known as microorganisms or microbes, that are usually invisible to the naked eye, including bacteria, protozoa, fungi, viruses and prions. Several modern scientific disciplines including genetic engineering, genomics, bioinformatics, microbial biotechnology, immunology and molecular biology originated from classical microbiology and therefore form an integral part of the teaching and research of microbiology at TUS. An industrial placement during the third year of the programme provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience and establish direct links with industry. 

This degree programme combines the study of languages with the history, politics, cultures and religions of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the current debates about the cultures, histories and religious affairs of the societies of the Middle East and their relationships with Europe.

The course is designed to provide you with skills and knowledge in two languages and their regional histories and cultures. Students choose one of Arabic, Hebrew, and Turkish and one from French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian and Polish.
