From the earliest writings in Anglo-Saxon to contemporary Irish, British, and ‘global’ literatures; from the origins of ancient Greece and Rome to modern Irish, European, American and Chinese history, students study English in its linguistic, historical and ideological circumstances and in History can choose modules that focus on gender, social and cultural history, colonial history, politics, religious and economic change.

The B.A. (Honours) in English and History is a 4 Year Level 8 Programme. It offers students the opportunity to read the greatest works of literature in English alongside the most important and influential events in Irish, European and world history.
