Our BCL(Hons) Law-Pathways programme allows for law students to take a general law degree which can be shaped to suit their own interests. If you take this degree you can specialise in areas such as international law, business law, human rights law, etc. You will also develop a strong foundation in legal research and writing, advocacy, and legal reasoning; these transferable skills are attractive to employers in a wide variety of professions and industries.

BCL (Law and French) allows you to study law and French at the same time in a joint honours degree. You can then become a lawyer with specific linguistic skills. Most of our graduates combine these two sets of skills and become lawyers with a unique linguistic ability. They often go on to work abroad in international or EU firms and institutions.  

The BCL (Law and Irish) degree will introduce you to a variety of diverse and stimulating topics combining the best aspects of a law degree together with study of the Irish language, literature, culture and institutions. It will also develop your analytical and interpretative skills.

The BCL (Law and Business) is a joint honours degree combining the related disciplines of law and business. This exciting four-year programme: explores the relationship between law and business, in areas such as business organisation, finance, and market regulation, and applies key legal and business tools of analysis to examine issues affecting the performance of firms and industries in a global business environment.

The BSc in Computer Science is a full-time four-year degree course that encompasses all aspects of computer systems (both software and hardware) and ICT (information and communication technology), including software development, database technology, computer networks, operating systems, algorithms, security, web technology and applications.

Our Genetics programme places particular emphasis on the molecular basis of genetics, and our graduates will obtain a strong foundation in modern genetics.

Fundamentally Physics and Astrophysics is concerned with the study of the universe, from the largest galaxies to the nature of matter itself. Physics, and the technologies developed by physicists, play a major role in chemistry, biology, medicine, electronics, geology, and in the applied fields of optics, nanotechnology, computer science and engineering. 

Our BSc in Data Science & Analytics degree at UCC provides education in data storage, manipulation and interpretation using mathematical sciences and computational methods which assists us in solving complex real-world problems.

In the first and second year, you will study the mathematical and computational foundations of data science and analytics. During the third year, you begin applying the fundamentals of data science and analytics to real-life problems and data.

The BSc Nutritional Sciences course focuses on the role of diet in health promotion and disease prevention (including problems related to undernutrition and over-nutrition, and especially the major non communicable chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis). Food science focuses on the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of food along the production chain, from its production on a farm to being eaten. Civil, Structural and Environmental engineers design, construct and operate a wide range of environmental infrastructure, vital to the needs of a modern economy. All the infrastructure around us, including roads, bridges, hospitals, universities, airports water, wastewater and energy facilities is the product of civil, structural and environmental engineering. Civil, Structural and Environmental engineering is the application of science to planning, design, and construction for the benefit of society while minimising environmental impact.

 BE Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a four-year professional engineering course designed to prepare students for employment in the electrical and electronic sectors in Ireland and abroad. It has a broad curriculum with strong practical content, including a work placement. It has an excellent record for graduate employment.

As a UCC Engineering BE (Hons) student you will follow a common first-year programme that provides a broad education in the fundamentals of engineering.

The first year of the BE is a broad education in engineering fundamentals. Through a combination of solid engineering fundamentals covered in the first two years of the course (e.g. thermodynamics, fluids, and electrical systems) and advanced energy engineering topics covered in the final two years (including power electronics, control systems, wind, solar photovoltaic and ocean energy, energy demand management and energy policy), graduates of the Energy Engineering course will be well-equipped to source, design, convert, transmit and supply useful energy to meet the world's present and long-term needs. 

The first year of the BE is a broad education in engineering fundamentals. Process and Chemical Engineers are involved in the design, modification and operation of processes to produce products across a broad range of process industries, including bio/pharmaceuticals,  food and drinks production, bulk chemicals and fuels/energy. Process and Chemical engineering helps provide a pathway towards meeting societal requirements around health and well being, energy provision, food production, water supply, waste management and consumer goods. 

Architecture explores new ways of living, investigates new technologies and materials, and strives to ensure that new buildings, towns and landscapes are environmentally sustainable. It combines art, science and technology in the design and construction of buildings and their surroundings within a sociocultural context. Architects are engaged in all aspects and creating the built environment from feasibility studies, outline and detailed design, through planning, to construction and management.

The Medicine curriculum at UCC is rooted in the basic Medical Sciences of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry, but also places emphasis on clinical instruction. A distinctive feature is small-group, patient-centred teaching, in which students learn the skills of listening and communicating, history-taking and clinical examination. 

Dentistry provides a rewarding career in the provision of oral health care and is satisfying not only in terms of performing high-standard clinical procedures but also in terms of social interaction. The dentist also fulfills an important function in educating patients regarding their oral care.
