This one-year course will develop journalism industry skills for use in a multi-platform environment. Students on this course will be prepared for a career in multi-media journalism, learning key skills such as research, content creation and podcast production.

This one year course provides an extensive introduction to a wide range creative writing, media, literature, and culture.

Participants will produce writing for fiction, scripts for theatre, television, radio, and film, as well as for journalism. The Film & TV Production course is an exciting introduction to the production world of the Film & TV industry. This practical journalism course focuses on developing multimedia skills to prepare students to work across all platforms: social, mobile, broadcast, digital and print journalism.

You will be trained to become a skilled digital content creator who can demonstrate essential skills and use of new technologies for the fast-moving 21st century media workplace. These includes smartphone photography and video journalism and the use of Adobe CC software for digital page production, social media campaigns and digital editing (sound and video). On completion of this course, you will have developed the production skills necessary to create content for a variety of genres: podcasting, radio, TV, video, photography, newspapers, magazines and online publications.

This one-year course concentrates on developing students knowledge and practical skills in the art of cinematography and provides an opportunity to work with experienced teachers to kick-start a career in filmmaking and learn valuable skills needed to enter into the film industry.

Students will acquire practical skills in film camera operations with an emphasis placed on the roles and functions of the camera. These skills will be evidenced through practical projects using high end SONY digital cameras. The productions will ensure the acquisition of other important cinematography skills including lighting, digital editing, and scriptwriting. Students will also learn the art of traditional darkroom black and white portrait photography.

Students may also use their digital film and video work as a portfolio to apply for entry to Film and Television Degree programmes

This course is designed to provide learners with an introduction to key skills required to work in the Film and TV sector and many other industries, where digital images/video can be used for promotional purposes.  Students will develop an understanding of scripting, storyboarding, capturing and editing video and post production using industry standard software and receive training in the use of the Adobe Creative Suite of software.  Students will also have the opportunity to use industry standard cameras, accessories, sound and lighting equipment.

Students on this course will be based using the Adobe Creative Cloud NLE systems. Digital Photography will compliment their production skills and visual storytelling and through the study of Media Analysis, students gain knowledge of how the relationship between the producer, the financing, and the audience impact one another. These skills will be evidenced in a portfolio of work including Film, Audio and Photography. This portfolio of work may be used for progression applications to degree programmes elsewhere.
