Modules for the first three years include a broad range of subjects and an industry work placement. IT Management involves the coordination of complex computer systems in organisations including the selection, installation and maintenance of all computing technologies. This is a critical role in any organisation as the efficient management of IT is vitally important for all aspects of a business. In Software Development, Year 4 concentrates on state-of-the-art, high-level software development topics such as: secure app development, data science, distributed systems and an extensive project.

The BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Engineering Technologies is delivered over four years in four stages of 60 credits each. Each stage includes taught modules worth either 5 or 10 credits depending on their learning outcomes. In first year, all modules are mandatory.

In second year, students pick a stream, either Manufacturing Industry offered in ATU Galway City or ATU Sligo, or Computing offered in ATU Donegal. 15 credits are mandatory and 45 stream specific. Construction Management is all about managing the construction process and meeting the needs of clients within legal, financial and environmental constraints. Construction Managers require a combination of engineering knowledge, good business and organisation skills and a capacity for leadership in managing the building process.

Students will develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the construction process and the necessary theoretical knowledge to match solutions to construction problems; the management skills to plan, organise and manage construction projects and the ability to contribute to the construction process in a manner that sustains and enhances the natural and the built environments. This includes responsibility for coordinating a wide variety of skilled workers and specialists and leading them in the implementation of the plan, monitoring progress against the required objectives, and making adjustments to ensure that the goals originally set forth are achieved.

The programme offers a delivery pathway through City of Dublin ETB’s Cathal Brugha FET Campus for Years 1 and 2, enabling students from diverse backgrounds to access new opportunities and transition seamlessly to National College of Ireland to complete their degree for Years 3 and 4.

This comprehensive Level 8 degree programme develops confident, independent learners and critical thinkers, with excellent leadership qualities.
