This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the latest Beauty Therapy techniques. Students explore a diverse range of areas such as manicure, pedicure, waxing, facials, and skincare. This full-time one-year programme is aimed at those who wish to pursue teaching as a career. It will concentrate on skills and knowledge essential to a teacher. It mainly prepares students for entry into Arts Degree programmes for second level teaching. Having completed this course students can apply for a Level 8 degree and then progress to a Professional Masters in Education Primary, subject to achieving the required grade in Irish.

* It should be noted that there is no direct link from a QQI Level 5 Award into Primary Teaching in Ireland at present.

This course provides the learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to pursue a career as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. This blended learning course is delivered two days online and two days on campus with occasional scheduled-on campus workshops.

The learner will gain knowledge and skills that can be applied to a wide range of speech and language therapy sectors catering for people of all ages who have difficulties with communication including eating and swallowing.  Students will also develop an understanding of how to assist Speech and Language Therapists and families to best manage clients’ challenges in relation to voice, feeding and speaking difficulties.

This QQI level 5 qualification enables graduates to work as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant as per the HSE appointed grade. Alternatively, learners can use the programme as a foundation for further study in health care, speech and language and social care.

Learners work towards the QQI Level 5 Health Service Skills major award while also developing their English language skills. If you are over 21 and 6 months unemployed you may be eligible for VTOS (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme). This scheme gives unemployed adults over 21 the opportunity of returning to full time education, while retaining their benefit.
