This one year programme is designed for those who are interested in working with natural materials and explore designing their own small scale wood based projects. Students will first explore a range of hand tools that vary across the furniture industry, then progress from there with other methods. There are lots opportunities in this course to develop further in forging a career within the furniture and wood employment sector or alternatively, progress onto further and higher education studies.

This full-time one-year programme will introduce students to the world of Construction. The programme examines construction materials and safe methodologies, with emphasis on sustainable energy efficient dwellings and green technologies. Students will also attend training workshop, where they will examine a range of different construction methods, calculate the quantities of material required to construct a domestic dwelling, create AutoCAD drawings and experience first-hand the application of renewable energy technologies.

Selected students will have the opportunity to apply for three-week work experience project in a European city where they can experience another culture; learn the basics of another language and enhance professional and personal knowledge and training. This course in Carpentry Techniques, which focuses on passive house building techniques and "Nearly Zero Energy Building" (NZEB) standards, aims to produce graduates who are equipped to work in the rapidly changing landscape of today's wood construction industry.

The Carpentry Techniques course is practical in nature and aims to prepare students to find employment with small and large contractors as apprentices or trainee carpenters.
