This three-year honours degree programme is a joint collaboration developed between St Angela’s College and ATU Sligo. It covers the disciplines of Business and Irish simultaneously and equally. The Business strand is undertaken through the medium of English, and the Irish strand through the medium of Irish. This three year honours degree in Law and Business is the only such programme in this field available within the northwest and midland region. Architecture is the art of planning and designing the built environment based on an understanding of humankind and our connection to the earth. It is a collaborative practice. The ethos of Architecture at ATU Sligo is the belief in the potential of architecture to transform places. We aim for a strong student-centred culture with dialogues between students and lecturers at its core. This programme provides education and training for the practice of architecture, taught in a way that makes explicit an understanding of and sensitivity to historical, contextual and cultural influences on the practice of design in a global, national, and local context.

Interior Architecture and Design is all about manipulating and forming an internal space, whether it be an existing or new building. Our Interior Architecture and Design programme focuses an environmentally conscious approach to the re-use, re-imagination and innovative re-invention of the existing built environment with a strong focus on sculpting interior space. Our graduates are skilled in responding creatively to both the Interior Architectural aspects of place, heritage and building as well as interpretation of client’s identity and design needs.    

The Creative Design programme at ATU Sligo gives students the skills and experience needed to become an industry-ready designer to work in many different areas to suit their design interests. Graduates of this degree are designing cars, apps, medical devices, and are working in design areas such as graphics, electronic products, start-ups and more.

The degree is designed to offer students the widest possible experience in materials and media - drawing, painting, digital media photography & video, ceramics, printmaking, sculptural studies, work in context, visual literacy and visual material culture and history/theory of art. These are taught with a focus on the student’s own research and art-making initiatives as the years progress. 

This programme focuses on developing skills in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, cultural journalism and other forms. Coursework is anchored by a focus on the processes of creative and critical writing along with a detailed study of literature, drama and film. The programme is delivered through interactive workshops, seminars and field trips. Visiting lecturers include novelists, poets, screenwriters, playwrights, podcasters, journalists, editors, agents and publishers.

This full-time undergraduate degree programme in Writing and Literature* is delivered fully online, facilitating wider access to this creative programme. All lectures will be delivered live online and students will be able to fully participate in group work and project work by means of innovative online supports. There is no requirement to attend campus.

This innovative new programme focuses on developing writing skills over the course of three years. The students embark upon a range of writing covering fiction, nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, flash fiction, cultural journalism and other forms of writing.

We have developed this programme in consultation with arts practitioners in Ireland and abroad. It has the support of nationally and internationally-acclaimed theatre and film practitioners as well as major locally-based arts organisations including the Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, The Model Arts Centre and The Hawk’s Well Theatre.

This programme is unique in Ireland, offering tuition to Level 8 in the linked fields of acting and theatre design. The design strand is linked to the Abbey Theatre, giving students access to rehearsals, technical departments, work placements and backstage.
