Students are encouraged to embrace their creative flair on this course. Students are supported to develop the key skills and the design processes for use in the Design, Art, and Fashion Design industries, as they progress through key modules such as Drawing, Design skills, Pattern drafting, Sewing, Combined materials, and Fashion Industry.

Students will have the opportunity to develop a quality portfolio of work to use when applying for further studies in a University.

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work under direction in a design or retail setting in the field of fashion and or textiles and or to progress to further and or higher education and training.

This course will provide participants with a broad knowledge of the core sciences and an understanding of the Irish legal system. Participants will develop useful skills through hands on laboratory work as well as an appreciation of the concepts particular to forensics.

Students will also develop skills in problem solving organization, team work, effective communication and the use of technology. These skills are relevant to a wide variety of industries and professions including in an Garda Siochana, the Defence Forces, State Laboratory and the forensic science laboratory.

This one-year course is designed to prepare students for a career in the sports, coaching and fitness sectors, or provide a pathway to further study in Physical Educating teaching. Students will engage in a range of sports, both practically and academically.

Students will also gain the social, communications and leadership skills to work with students in the teaching area, along with athletes and groups in the growing sports, coaching and fitness areas.

This one-year, NFQ Level 5 full time course is aimed at those who are passionate about science and who wish to continue their scientific journey. The course equips learners with the vocational skills and knowledge in Biology, Chemistry & Physics, to work independently and under supervision in a science environment and to progress to further and or higher education and training.

The Pre-University Science course has been developed to enable students to obtain the entry requirements for accessing Science-based programmes at Higher Education institutes. Additionally, learners acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the science and pharmaceutical industries.

This course provides an opportunity for you to investigate your interest in Forensics and Investigative Sciences. The study of Forensics, Criminal Law and Criminology is an excellent preparation for application to An Garda Siochana, the Defence Forces, forensic science laboratories and the State Laboratory. This should provide an opportunity for students to explore their preferred area of future study in investigative sciences or forensics.

This course has been designed in conjunction with universities, based upon the QQI entry requirements for science-based degrees.

The direct benefits to you as a student in completing the Human Health Performance Programme is that it will enable you to gain knowledge and skills required to apply to university courses that lead to careers in Physical Education and Athletic Therapy and Training. The Human Health Performance Programme gives you a solid foundation in human science that is vital to securing a career in these areas. Laboratory Skills and biomechanics modules give you a fantastic grounding in knowledge to send you on your way to an industry that is built off finding performance solutions. Extensive careers advice and advice on higher education opportunities is an integral part of the programme.

This Pre-University Science course was developed with DCU to meet the needs of students who wish to study science to degree level in university. The course will cater for three different groups of learners:

• Students who did not obtain the required Leaving Certificate points for their chosen Science course,
• Students who wish to acquire a foundation in Science subject areas and Mathematics before entry to University, A
• dult returnees to education.

Students who obtain an overall merit (65%) grade in the Pre-University course will gain a place on the majority of Science courses outlined below. However, some courses in DIT have higher and more specific requirements. The course prepares students for entry to the first year of the following Science Degree courses offered by the faculty of Health and Science in DCU.

This course has been designed to meet the needs of a variety of students wishing to study Environmental Science, specifically those who did not satisfy the entry requirements for direct entry to a degree course, and adult returnees to education.
