The objective of this course is to provide learners with the essential skills needed to advance toward potential employment as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), working under the guidance and supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT).

Successful completion of this course will result in a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Physiotherapy Assistant 5M3782.

Students who undertake this one-year course in Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Learners will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

This course is aimed at students interested in pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy. Students who undertake this one-year course in Occupational Therapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation, treatment of injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Students will develop an understanding of impaired mobility and its impact on human occupational performance and ability and the role of occupational therapy in current healthcare services. Students will gain an insight into the development and implementation of therapeutic programmes. The purpose of the Health Service Skills QQI Level 5 programme is to equip learners with the practical skills, professional competencies, and theoretical understanding required to work effectively as a Healthcare Assistant across a wide range of health and social care settings.

This award prepares students to support service users with dignity, respect, and professionalism while developing a strong foundation for further study in healthcare-related disciplines.

The aim of this full-time one-year programme is to provide the learner with an understanding of treatment and therapeutic interventions in everyday activities in a variety of healthcare settings.

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings or to progress to further and or higher education and training in Ireland or the UK. This course will also equip students with basic skills in physiotherapy assistance.

This course offers such learners an opportunity to gain an understanding of the teaching profession and its practices Learners will gain a wide understanding of educational systems and teaching practices in Ireland and will examine key educational issues including the social influences surrounding how people learn and the potential barriers to learning.

This course is suitable for post leaving cert students and mature students who are interested in teaching (Primary school teaching, Post-Primary school teaching, or teaching in Further Education).

This award offers a wide range of modules which enables students to gain a critical awareness of the way in which the Irish Education system operates. Learners are also enabled to improve their communication, critical reflection and interpersonal skills, all of which are central to working in an educational setting.
