This course allows students to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills in audio and music technology, sound engineering and production and musicianship. Students will gain hands-on experience in studio work (audio tracking, audio mixing), composition with technology and radio production in our high-spec studios and multimedia editing suites. A series of events throughout the academic year will allow students to gain experience in studio production, live sound, composition with technology, radio programme production and musicianship whilst developing the necessary skills required to navigate the technical music and sound industry. As part of the course, students will be developing competence in industry software such as AVID Pro Tools, Reason, Adobe Audition, Sibelius, Ableton and other software.

You will develop music production skills in studio recording, mixing and post-production editing in our professional facilities. This is matched with specialist lessons in music sequencing, sound synthesis and music technology to help you explore your creative musical potential.

Practical projects will also enable you to learn about the world of live sound, events management and the music industry. This course features a high level of training in a wide range of industry standard music production software including Logic Pro®, Ableton Live® and Pro Tools®.

This one-year course provides learners with an introduction to professional music recording and production techniques using industry standard software including Apple Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools and Ableton Live. Throughout the program learners complete several projects and skills demos covering topics such as Studio Hardware, Studio Recording, Mixing & Effects, Sampling & Synthesis and Live Sound Mixing Consoles. In addition, learners will also be introduced to Sound Design for movies and Video Editing using Apple Final Cut Pro. Course facilities include: Apple Computer Lab with 25 iMacs and Akai Midi controller keyboards.
