The National Print Museum seeks to collect, document, preserve exhibit and make accessible the material evidence of the printing craft and foster associated skills of the craft in Ireland. It is supported by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB). It is also fully accredited under the Heritage Council’s Museum Standards Programme for Ireland.

The QQI Cultural and Heritage Studies Award is a long established Aontas award-winning programme at the National Print Museum which aims to assist people in developing the skills to seek employment in the Cultural and Heritage industry and/or progress to Further Education after the course. The programme combines theory with practical work experience offering participants the opportunity to work as tour guides within the National Print Museum and a further heritage site of choice for the work experience placement. Course participants benefit from weekly familiarisation trips to heritage sites, museums and galleries around the country. Further to this weekly workshops are provided in the traditional craft of Letterpress.

This full-time one-year programme is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue further study in the form of an Arts Degree. The range of modules allow for a taste of different areas such as English, Psychology, Social Studies and History. This will give the learner a broad skillset and a breath of knowledge within this area.

This course allows students to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills in audio and music technology, sound engineering and production and musicianship. Students will gain hands-on experience in studio work (audio tracking, audio mixing), composition with technology and radio production in our high-spec studios and multimedia editing suites. A series of events throughout the academic year will allow students to gain experience in studio production, live sound, composition with technology, radio programme production and musicianship whilst developing the necessary skills required to navigate the technical music and sound industry. As part of the course, students will be developing competence in industry software such as AVID Pro Tools, Reason, Adobe Audition, Sibelius, Ableton and other software.

You will develop music production skills in studio recording, mixing and post-production editing in our professional facilities. This is matched with specialist lessons in music sequencing, sound synthesis and music technology to help you explore your creative musical potential.

Practical projects will also enable you to learn about the world of live sound, events management and the music industry. This course features a high level of training in a wide range of industry standard music production software including Logic Pro®, Ableton Live® and Pro Tools®.

This one-year course provides learners with an introduction to professional music recording and production techniques using industry standard software including Apple Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools and Ableton Live. Throughout the program learners complete several projects and skills demos covering topics such as Studio Hardware, Studio Recording, Mixing & Effects, Sampling & Synthesis and Live Sound Mixing Consoles. In addition, learners will also be introduced to Sound Design for movies and Video Editing using Apple Final Cut Pro. Course facilities include: Apple Computer Lab with 25 iMacs and Akai Midi controller keyboards.

This course not only teaches and develops the particular skills of writing bespoke music for film and video but also outlines a clear career path in the Irish and international film music arena through the demystification of the music publishing world, the teaching of the practical skills of music administration (such as creating a synch licence for film) and in the dissemination of a general understanding of the film making process and its requirements for sound.

The student will leave the course with a comprehensive on-line portfolio and a distinct awareness of the areas in which to promote this.

This two-year course will aim to prepare participants for work with young children in the rapidly expanding world of childcare and crèche supervision/management. The childcare worker needs social, communication and caring skills to work with individuals and groups. Childcare will lay a foundation for these skills and provide the work experience to put learning into practice.

This course will serve as training for crèche/community care/healthcare industries or as a link to childcare or early childhood education courses in many Universities and IT colleges throughout the country and the UK. This programme is ideal for both school leavers and experienced mature persons seeking a formal education.
