The aim of this award is to provide relevant, professional education for students on all aspects of the planning, marketing and management of events and public relations programmes in this multifaceted industry.

Graduates can expect to find employment in a variety of event, PR and entertainment enterprises including conference and convention centres, charitable non-profit organisations, national and regional tourism organisations, hotels, public relations firms, event management agencies, sports and leisure centres, community development organisations, arts and music festivals, multinational companies and public sector organisations.

This degree prepares graduates for many of the business roles available in the tourism industry in Ireland and internationally today. Students develop skills at both operational and supervisory management levels. The BA (Honours) in Heritage Studies has an applied focus and is interdisciplinary in nature – linking heritage with history, geography, archaeology, tourism, genealogy, museum studies, folklore, literature, planning, computing, digital media, business and languages. This programme is particularly appropriate for students wishing to acquire a broader knowledge and understanding of the built, cultural and natural heritages of Ireland, Europe and the wider world.

It will also provide you with an understanding of the role that heritage resource management plays in the safeguarding of archaeological and historic sites, national monuments, architecture, artefacts, archives, cultural landscapes and identities, habitats, flora and fauna.

Product Design students will learn about manufacturing design, methods and processes, ergonomics and human centred design, product design and innovation, and human centred product development.

The BA (Hons) in Graphic Design & Illustration is a 4-year course. It has a common first semester, after which students also have the opportunity to switch to another design programme if they wish (subject to available places).

Topics on the programme include Photography, Digital Media, Design History & Theory, Creative Problem Solving, Business & Entrepreneurial skills and an Ethical and Sustainable Design ethos. Graphic Design & Illustration students will learn about visual communications, illustration, typography, visual communications - major project, advanced digital design, and book arts for design.

The BA (Hons) in Interior Design is a 4-year course. It has a common first semester, after which students also have the opportunity to switch to another design programme if they wish (subject to available places).

Topics on the programme include Photography, Digital Media, Design History & Theory, Creative Problem Solving, Business & Entrepreneurial skills and an Ethical and Sustainable Design ethos. Interior Design Students will learn about the design of interior spaces, 3D model making, building regulations, ergonomics and human centred design, textile and surface design, interior design - surfaces, materials and finishes, interior design - integrated interior design project, and building information modelling.

The BA (Hons) in Textile & Fashion Design is a 3-year course following the first-year common entry course. Topics on the programme include Photography, Digital Media, Design History & Theory, Creative Problem Solving, Business & Entrepreneurial skills and an Ethical and Sustainable Design ethos. Textile & Fashion Design students will learn about fashion concepts, textile and surface design, woven textile design and practice, accessory design, fashion textile research and development, 3D construction, textile fabrication, and fashion directions.

This four-year (Level 8) honours degree is accredited by the Teaching Council and will enable graduates to teach both Art and Design and Communication Graphics in Irish post-primary schools. This unique initial teacher education programme is designed to ensure that students attain the skills, knowledge and practice to become excellent teachers of both Art and Design and Communication Graphics. 

During the programme, students will develop their creativity and learn and apply emerging digital technologies to enable them to master these subjects. Projects focused on design, art techniques, CAD and graphics ensures that students can gradually gain the confidence, skills and competence to independently teach these subject to the highest level and standards.

The BA (Hons) in Art is a dynamic, visually-driven programme. Students are challenged to address traditional, contemporary, conceptual, conventional, and experimental approaches to thinking, making, performing, and writing about art in today’s world.

Skills are delivered in Ceramics, Sculpture, Digital Media, Drawing, Film making, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Professional Practice and Curation in tandem with academic research and writing skills in Art History and Critical Theory.

The three-year BA (Hons) in Animation and Games Design is aimed at those who wish to secure employment in the Games and/or Animation industry, and those who wish to design and produce their own animated films or video games. The Animation and Game Design programme has been delivered since 2016 as a major pathway on the BA (Hons) in Design. It has been very successful, with excellent feedback from the students, graduates and industry.

Students must choose a stream at the end of Year 1.

This 3-year Level 8 honours degree programme offers students the opportunity to garner the skills to craft, bring to life and deliver stories through the various media and platforms that are available today. The BA in Creative Media and Storytelling is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in the digital communications arena. It will include key subjects that inform the digital media sphere, including local journalism, marketing and advertising, advocacy, campaigning, community awareness and digital communication. 

A three-year Level 8 honours degree for those interested in developing a career in film, documentary, television and the audiovisual sector. This programme is designed to provide a specialised knowledge of the history, theory and practical working of documentary and film making. Embedded in the programme is the opportunity for ethical and philosophical discourse with regard to representation, media and new technologies.

The practical and technical skills options include such specialist areas as screenwriting, editing, sound, production design, cinematography, VFX (visual effects) and knowledge of the planning, budgeting and management requirements involved in shooting and delivering film and documentary projects. 

This four-year, level 8 programme (including a placement) offers a direct pathway into a full-time career in accounting, decision making, systems accounting, digital auditing, process design, business and data analytics, blockchain, system analysis programme development and application support. Digital Accounting will develop accounting graduates with traditional accounting competencies combined with applied digital technology skills, to ensure graduates have the required skill set to operate in the current and future business environment. 

Agriculture, food production and environmental management are just a few of Irelands key industries, and gaining a degree in this area opens up a host of career options. This programme will enable the learner to improve their knowledge and understanding of general business and to develop business skills, particularly as they apply to the rural enterprise and agri-business sector.

The aim of the BB (Hons) in Rural Enterprise and Agri-Business is to provide the learner with a business education that emphasises the importance of rural enterprise and agri business by developing an understanding of the theory, concepts and methods as well as the practical implementation of a range of skills and tools in these areas.

A Business with Entrepreneurship degree is ideal for students who would like to: Start their own business, Revitalise an existing business, possibly a family business, Work in a progressive organisation that values employees with an entrepreneurial approach to work

This degree will give you a solid grounding in business, while strengthening your

Graduates with Finance, Economics and Big Data skills are in high demand here in Ireland and overseas. This also opens up opportunities in a range of business careers including financial planning, banking, accounting, economics and management consulting. Postgraduate options include economics and finance. A highlight of the programme is the opportunity to undertake a three-to-six-month work experience placement as part of third year. Students can alternatively choose to study abroad on Erasmus.

This four-year Level 8 course prepares you to become a skilled knowledge worker and information systems specialist for tomorrow’s dynamic and global businesses. This programme aims to develop your understanding of the interaction between IT systems and business to prepare you for graduate positions in business operations and IT projects. These roles include jobs like Business Systems Analysts, IT Project Managers, Cloud Support Analysts, IT Consultants, Support Engineers, Database Administrators, Web Developers and many others. 

This programme provides you with a broad-based business education to assist you to work successfully in business. You will study a variety of business subjects and develop a general understanding of the administrative, economic, legal and social environment within which business operates. You will study the basics of business and get an insight into many business disciplines. There is a strong emphasis during the programme on practical business projects to develop the skills required by graduates in the workplace.

This three-year, Level 8 programme offers a direct pathway into a full-time career in accounting, and it also offers graduates opportunities in a range of business careers including, financial services and management consulting.

The BA Applied Social Care degree is designed to enable graduates to make the world a better place for everyone, by empowering and enabling people, and by correcting the social injustices that exist in today's society.

This programme combines an exciting mix of academic study and skills training in adventure sports. You will build an understanding of the developmental and educational role of outdoor education and you will study the Irish landscape, safety, communications and teaching.

In addition you will gain an extensive range of National Governing Body awards in adventure sports such as rock climbing, surfing, hill walking, sailing, snorkeling, caving and kayaking.

This programme is designed for those who are interested in pursuing a rewarding and exciting career in the furniture and wood manufacturing industry. Students first develop skills in a wide range of furniture manufacturing principles and learn the latest computer aided design software used in industry. In second year, students choose one of the degree options at the end of year one – Design, Making or Digital.

This programme of study fosters the development of creative thinking, and the development of interpersonal and project management skills and competencies required to work in the technology sector. You will develop skills in a variety of software tool-kits and applications through hands-on practical development work, and the production of rich media and web application content for a wide range of platforms. The programme places a significant emphasis on practical skills and you will work individually and in groups on a variety of projects. 

How do we interact with computers? How is computing evolving? Software Development is about solving problems, designing new applications and developing your own personal skills for communication, leadership and management.
