This programme aims to produce graduates with a strong academic base in health science disciplines related to physical activity and exercise. Students will graduate with a thorough understanding of health sciences and their application. Emphasis is placed on developing core health-related skills and competencies. The degree is comprised of a number of inter-related subject streams including health promotion and public health, physical activity, exercise physiology, nutrition sciences, and research methods. Dietitians are uniquely qualified to translate scientific information on food, health and disease into practical guidance enabling people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. The modules within this course enable the development of scientific knowledge relevant to human nutrition and dietetics, the advancement of analytical and critical thinking and the integration of evidence-based practice. This programme also develops the student’s ability to work and communicate with others in an ethical, flexible, and adaptable manner. 

Health Science with Occupational Therapy Studies is the study of the human body with particular focus on Anatomy and Physiology and provides a foundation to Occupational Therapy studies. This two year Health Science with Occupational Therapy Studies incorporates year one of the three year BSc Honours in Occupational Therapy at Coventry University (CU).

Through a unique progression opportunity, this programme allows students to progress to complete a BSc Honours in Physiotherapy at Coventry University.

The BSc (Hons) Health Science is a three-year honours degree that provides a direct pathway into MSc programmes in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Dietetics.

Health Service Skills provides students with an opportunity to study on a course that leads directly into employment or Healthcare level 6 in North Connaught College or Higher Education.

This course is ideal for people interested in working in partnership with others to advocate and care for individuals or groups who require support. Healthcare assistants are key members of the inter-disciplinary team which delivers care in hospitals, residential care homes and private houses. This course will give professional carers the knowledge and skills to support vulnerable adults who, for a variety of reasons, require short-term or long-term assistance.

The purpose of the Health Service Skills QQI Level 5 programme is to equip learners with the practical skills, professional competencies, and theoretical understanding required to work effectively as a Healthcare Assistant across a wide range of health and social care settings.

This award prepares students to support service users with dignity, respect, and professionalism while developing a strong foundation for further study in healthcare-related disciplines.

The aim of this full-time one-year programme is to provide the learner with an understanding of treatment and therapeutic interventions in everyday activities in a variety of healthcare settings.

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings or to progress to further and or higher education and training in Ireland or the UK. This course will also equip students with basic skills in physiotherapy assistance.

This course will facilitate the learner to explore supervisory roles within the Health Service with a view to reskilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas required for future employment. Learners will gain the knowledge and skills to apply a range of supervisory management concepts, theories and techniques to a supervisory management role in the provision of health services.

This is a one year full time course leading to a Level 6 QQI Award in Health Services Supervisory Management Skills.

It also offers a sound introduction to management in the health services for those wishing to build upon their experience and to gain a formal qualification in management.

This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills to work in the nutrition or general healthcare area where nutritional, general health or mental health support is required.

Learners will learn the importance of developing a holistic and client focused approach to work and will develop the knowledge and skillset to meet the emotional, psychological and social needs of clients in the healthcare sector. The role exercise, diet and nutrition plays in maintaining and enhancing both physical and mental health will be a focus of the course.
