A music degree will prepare you for a wide range of careers, in the creative arts, journalism, music production, arts management, research, and teaching.

Religion

This course explores theories of religion, the monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, the religions of Asia and Africa, movements such as New Atheism, New Religious Movements and the interaction between religion and politics, science, or art.

This is an intensively hands-on course, aimed at talented students who already have a basic level of skill in the three ‘triple-threat’ areas: singing, dancing and acting.

The course combines personal skills training with group and teamwork, expressed through annual public performances in professional theatres. As well as working with highly qualified core staff, the students will meet professionals from all musical theatre fields, following up- to-the-minute trends and making contacts and networks for life.

This course provides essential and comprehensive training in the three main principles of musical theatre, namely acting, singing and dancing, which are supported by academic modules which explore further understanding of the industry. Students also participate in all important performance practice and projects. The modules have been designed to have a clear progression through each of the three years culminating in musical theatre productions in year three. 

The BFA major in musical theatre offers a conservatory and holistic approach to musical theatre training, one that not only concentrates on a participatory performance perspective, but also prepares the student for a wide and exciting range of careers available in the performing arts industry.

While performance remains an integral component of the programme, students are also prepared for the vast array of work that supports and produces performance, such as directing and staging, creating written material for performance, production, management, marketing and funding of the performing arts.

The degree produces a wide spectrum of transferable skills such as effective presentational technique, expertise in using the voice and the body as communicative instruments, interpretational and compositional competency with written texts, management, marketing and organisational skills.

If you love musicals and want to have a go yourself but don’t know where to begin, this course is for you. Adults with a passion for musical theatre are offered an opportunity to develop the fundamental techniques required to perform in Musical Theatre. Taught through group master-classes and rehearsals, this intensive immersion in musical theatre will help build confidence, develop new skills and develop existing skills in a collaborative environment. During the course students will work with a singing tutor & musical director, leading musical theatre director and choreographer, to develop their singing, dance and performance skills.

The AFA major in musical theatre offers a conservatory and holistic approach to musical theatre training, one that not only concentrates on a participatory performance perspective, but also prepares the student for a wide and exciting range of careers available in the performing arts industry.

The programme is based around live theatrical performance, whilst also preparing the graduate for further study in all cognate specialisms in musical theatre, as well as the required preparation skills for the professional industry.

Thih is a creative and lively four-year degree in media and Irish which is taught entirely through Irish. It covers the latest thinking and research in the fast-changing world of digital media, and provides a balanced mix of academic study and practical, hands-on learning in journalism, television and radio production, broadcasting and multimedia, together with a thorough grounding in Irish language and literature and a focus on Gaeltacht heritage and culture.

Graduates will have a recognised qualification in Irish and will be able to teach Irish at second-level once they obtain a postgraduate qualification in teaching. Another key difference is that the course has moved from An Cheathrú Rua to

This Nail Technology with Beauty Therapy course is a complete beauty therapy course designed for those who want to become advanced nail technicians with qualifications and developed intermediate skills set.

The Hairdressing Apprenticeship is a practical route into a career in hairdressing where you will earn while you learn. Apprentices undergo training while working four days a week with their employer and attending college one day a week. Apprentices will be supported in the workplace by an approved Mentor and in the college by their teacher. Apprentices will graduate after three years as a fully qualified Hairdresser with a QQI Level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications.

The National Hairdressing Apprenticeship programme is designed to ensure that the apprentice receives training both on and off the job over a minimum of three years.

With a blend of on-the-job training (80%) in full time employment, and one day a week off-the-job training (20%) with Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education (CDCFE), we provide apprentice with all the necessary skills, techniques, theory, and confidence in assisting them to become a fully qualified Hairdresser.

The National Hairdressing Apprenticeship will provide successful apprentices with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Hairdressing. This is the only recognised national qualification for fully qualified hairdressers in Ireland. The earn-as-you-learn model ensures that you are paid a weekly apprentice rate by your employer throughout your apprenticeship. Plus, our apprenticeship programme is designed to ensure that you receive training both on and off the job which is formally regulated and of a national standard.

The duration of the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship will be over 3 years with training consisting of 80% full time employment and 20% off the job training with Sallynoggin College of Further Education on a day release.
