This one-year Nursing Studies course will introduce you to practical experience in healthcare clinical settings which, combined with an insight into theories relating to the nursing profession, will enable them to deliver high standards of care. Nursing Studies is a one-year course for students wishing to train as Nurses both here in Ireland and in the UK. On completion of this course students can apply to Nursing Degree courses through the QQI entry system. This course will improve the chances of recruitment in either the Fire, Ambulance Service, Nursing or Healthcare. Learners will gain essential knowledge and skills in areas relevant to these careers. This course is also suitable for adults seeking qualifications to return to the workforce. The course design is vocational in nature.

This intensive one-year program serves as a dual-purpose gateway for students aspiring to enter the nursing profession or work as Healthcare Assistants. The curriculum is led by clinical nurse practitioners, ensuring that nursing theory and practice are grounded in real-world expertise. Students train in a specialized nursing suite—modeled after a hospital room in St. James’s Hospital—using industry-standard equipment such as manual and ceiling hoists, hospital beds, and wheelchairs.
