The aim of this one year full time course is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge skills and competence to work autonomously and independently in a fine art context and/or to progress to higher education and training.

This programme enables you to teach Art and Design at second level. It begins from the place of creative making in the studio setting where students are introduced to a variety of creative disciplines including; Fashion Design, Painting, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Sculpture, Animation & Motion Design, Printmaking and Contemporary Practice. This is a portfolio preparation and general art course for students who wish to gain entry to a third level Art College in Ireland, the U.K. or abroad. The emphasis will be placed on the preparation of a balanced portfolio as well as developing skills in the art, craft and design areas. The portfolio, showing the student's individual sense of design and pattern, can use a wide variety of the modules covered on the course as well as the student's own interpretation of colour and design. Depending on the combination of modules a student can achieve a qualification in Fine Art or Design/2D.
