This course will give you the opportunity to gain work placement with major media companies in Ireland and train in technical media production skills. It is a fully funded training programme which includes software, equipment, guest speakers, industry certification and excursions. Work and Train with likeminded media professionals in an exciting environment while gaining the skills to enable you to work in the TV & Film industry.

Applicants who are currently in receipt of a Social Welfare payment may continue to receive that payment for the duration of the course.

This course is designed to provide learners with an introduction to key skills required to work in the Film & TV sector. Students will develop an understanding of scripting, storyboarding, capturing and editing video and post production using industry standard software in a modern production suite.

This course is designed for those who wish to up-skill for employment or prepare a portfolio for TV and Film or Media Studies in higher education. Students will gain practical hands on experience, learn about the Film industry and have full access to the Adobe Creative Suite for the duration of the course.

TV & Media Production is a practical, hands-on course. You will work in groups and individually to develop ideas from script to screen. This course teaches a wide range of skills covering each stage of media production. Research and producing, script writing, camera work, graphics, audio and video editing are all taught over the three years - providing a solid, practical foundation for future work in the media industry. 

The Bachelor of Science Honours degree in TV and Media Production is a hands-on course where students find themselves completely immersed in the practical world of media production.

The QQI Level 5 award in Animal Care (5M2768) is a comprehensive course aimed at individuals interested in pursuing careers in animal care. Its primary objective is to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to meet the needs of animals under supervision across various animal care settings. Additionally the course serves as a pathway for further education and training in the field.

Our biological science degree in Veterinary Bioscience has a major focus on animal health, disease and diagnostics. The veterinary biosciences discipline is experiencing significant growth, both nationally and internationally, due to increased demand for diagnostics to underpin animal health and disease management.

This course will educate you to the best international standards in veterinary medicine and is accredited nationally by the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI), by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and is one of only 6 veterinary schools in Europe currently accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). The veterinary profession is concerned with the promotion of the health and welfare of animals of special importance to society. This involves the care of healthy and sick animals, the prevention, recognition, control and treatment of their diseases and of diseases transmitted from animals to man, and the welfare and productivity of livestock.

This five-year programme will consist of three phases: foundation, clinical and professional. The foundation and clinical phases, will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the relevant, underpinning scientific and clinical concepts and related industry context via a Scaffolded Active Learning style curriculum, to motivate students to learn in an active, collaborative manner. The final professional phase of the MVB programme employs a fully distributed model of clinical education.

The course is organised over four years. In first year, students will build on their knowledge of the basic biological sciences. You will take modules which demonstrate how this knowledge is applied in the practice of veterinary medicine, and gain a firm grounding in animal welfare, behaviour and handling. A key objective will be to ensure that you have the required knowledge, skills and competencies to progress to second year. Between second and fourth year, you’ll take combined modules with students taking the DN300 degree in Veterinary Medicine. 

This programme is designed to produce highly skilled, confident, and well-rounded veterinary graduates equipped to work effectively in Irish veterinary practice where they will play an essential role in safeguarding animal health, public health, and safeguarding Ireland’s food-producing economy.

5 years leading to Bachelor of VMS at Level 9.

This course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to make a significant contribution to animal health and welfare. Students will get to experience a wide range of areas, including anatomy and physiology of domestic animals, fluid therapy, medical and surgical nursing care, laboratory testing, veterinary diagnostics and therapeutics, office management and client communication. All relevant practical competencies will be covered in relation to dogs, cats, horses, farm animals and exotic species.

The degree provides the graduate with not only a sound academic foundation but also the practical skills and competencies with which to build a solid career as a professional veterinary nurse. Students receive a high-quality education through lectures, tutorials and practical classes, as well as off-site work experience. The curriculum reflects the demands on the Irish veterinary nurse in practice by incorporating teaching on small animal (including exotics), farm animal and equine nursing.  

The Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing in the Kerry Campus of MTU will prepare learners to become a competent and accountable veterinary nurse. This programme has a strong educational basis, integrated with professional skills to equip graduates for a career in the field of Veterinary Nursing.
