The Datacenter Academy programme covers content at QQI level 5 and level 6 of the National Framework of Qualifications in the area Computer Systems and Networks.

The Games Development course is designed to encourage the development of key games development skills especially in the areas of games software programming, design, graphics and project management. Learners will learn how to use and implement popular game engines like Unity 3D in the creation of their own games software titles while studying core development languages. Additionally, learners will create graphics, animations, sound and look at their implementation possibilities for modern technologies such as the web, mobile devices and gaming consoles. Learners will get hands on experience of exciting technologies such as motion capture, AR and VR.

Successful learners will have an extensive knowledge of games software development as well as an extensive portfolio of work including individual games.

The Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts and Supervision is for candidates who have gained experience as a chef and wish to extend their knowledge of the planning and monitoring of operations and staff within the kitchen environment and broaden their overall knowledge of operating successfully within the wider hospitality industry. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their supervisory skills, both knowledge based and practically, in order to fulfil the requirements of the assessments.

This one-year Higher National Certificate prepares students to work alongside architects and engineers by teaching construction fundamentals like CAD, Surveying, and Design. Learners engage in realistic studio projects, using the latest software to visualize buildings from inception to completion. The program also includes practical study trips to further investigate professional architectural technology in the field.

This is an additional one year course designed to prepare students for a career in sports coaching, the sports and leisure industry or to provide a pathway to further study.

This advanced Level 6 Certificate in Culinary Arts equips students with an increased level of relevant knowledge, skills and competence to work autonomously using a range of specialised skills in a professional kitchen. Each student will have the chance to gain valuable insight into the industry through their work experience which they complete throughout the course. This course is timetabled over three days to accommodate chefs working in the industry.

Advanced Beauty Therapy Level 6 offers students relevant qualifications in a progressing industry. Students will achieve ITEC Diplomas in various disciplines, CIDESCO as well as the internationally recognised qualifications. Students who are interested in post graduate qualifications and CPD may also apply.

This two year course leads to a Pharmacy Technician Qualification. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation, checking, storage and dispensing of drugs.

The Advanced Childhood Early Learning & Care course seeks to extend students knowledge in theoretical approaches and provides learners with the skills needed to work as a room leader/supervisor in a childcare setting.

This course will enable students to work with world-renowned professional skincare and body products, such as Yonka, to develop practical expertise in a range of treatments. Students will complete case studies on guest clients for each module, performing treatments such as body massage and figure analysis, microdermabrasion, IPL, radiofrequency, microneedling and learning correct use of body electrical machines. 

As part of this Beauty Aesthetics and Body Treatments course, students actively design, set up and participate in the Institute’s commercial salon, which runs on a weekly basis. This experience empowers the students, building their confidence to make the transition to professional beauty therapist. 

The course in Administration and IT for Business is designed for those who wish to gain advanced skills in office administration, IT skills, payroll and book-keeping techniques. A wide range of computer packages are taught in line with the requirements of the modern office.

This course is designed to give students a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the latest technologies. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates should be able to interpret customer requirements and provide advice on the solution options available. 

This course in Animal Science covers all of the aspects of animal science and aims to advance the student's academic and professional career prospects in animal care while also studying units in business and management. Students may use this course in Animal Science as a progression to a degree in related animal management, animal science and care areas. Industry placement is an im­portant part of this course, with placement being completed over the duration of the course. By the end of this course, students will have learned how to maintain a high level of hus­bandry when rearing animals and have a knowledge of a wide range of animals.

This course allows students to develop a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in audio and music technology, sound engineering and production.

Students will gain hands-on experience in studio work, music and sound tracking, audio mixing and mastering, sound design, Foley, composition, song writing and post-production for TV and film in our high-spec studios and multimedia editing suites. A series of live events throughout the academic year will allow students to gain experience in live sound and lighting techniques whilst developing the necessary skills required in organising and staging events.

The Early Learning and Care (Stage 2) course is designed to meet the needs of the growing childcare provision in Ireland and the Siolta Quality Framework and Aistear Curriculum. Many childcare settings are now seeking level 6 qualifications for their employees in line with the requirements of the ECCE scheme and new legislative requirements for the sector.

The overall aim of the two-stage programme is to enable learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and competence to work as autonomous practitioners, subject to practice supervision, promoting and supporting the holistic needs of children from 0 to six years, and/or to take responsibility for a room or area in an ELC setting. The current qualification requirement for room leaders is Level 6 (DCEDIY, register of recognised Early Years qualifications.) Qualifications for different roles in ELC may be subject to change in line with evolving national policy.

This is a three-year apprenticeship programme aimed at school leavers and mature applicants who are considering a career in the Hairdressing Industry, or who are currently working in the Industry and want to gain a recognised qualification in this sector.

Apprentices work four days per week in the salon, while being paid by their employer, and attend classes in the college one day per week over the three-year period. Job Ratio: 80% on-the-job and 20% off-the-job.

The programme aims to ensure that theoretical learning in a Further Education Centre is reinforced by the practical experience of working in a Salon environment.

Apprentices will be supported in the workplace by an approved mentor and in the classroom by their teacher. Apprentices will graduate after three years as a fully qualified Hairdresser with a QQI Level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications.

This Level 6 Major Award enables the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competence to work in a range of community health service settings and school settings.

The general aim of this course is to provide students with a proficient practical knowledge and understanding of horticulture practice at a supervisory level.

This is a part-time course that leads to Horticulture QQI Level 6 award 6M4334 and must be completed over 2 academic years. Students take 3 modules in year 1 and other 3 modules in year 2. The course always runs every Wednesday and Thursday during the academic year and the summer months are then used to complete the 220 hours work placement that is specific to the module choice.

This Advanced Certificate course supports learners gain knowledge and practical skills to be successful in a career in a variety of Early Years settings. Additionally, this programme includes modules for Special Needs Assisting.

Some learners with potential for academic progression may select this as a route to Social Care degree courses in Universities and Institutes of Technology.

This fully funded Traineeship provides a variety of modules which relate to the design/ drawing/CAD/IT skills required within the construction sector.
