This programme has been designed to help enable participants to develop the knowledge and skills necessary use and maintenance a range of horticulture tools and equipment correctly and safely. During the programme learners will be required to perform a range of tasked on Hand/ Power Tools, pedestrian and horticultural machinery

This programme has been designed to enable participants to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to under-stand mechanical principles applied to engines, machines, hand and power tools including focus, torque, pressure, power, horse-power, gears and belt speed and to be able to make compassion between diesel and petrol engines. On completion participants will be able to describe the component system associated with a tractor engine being able to assess a range of fuel, oil and grease lubrication and use hand and power tools for nuts and bolts. Carrying out a range of basic electrical maintenance and performing 50 hour and 500 hour service.

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to plant, grow and maintain a range of flowering plants within a range of horticultural environments. Throughout the programme learners will be required to prepare, plant and maintain within a variety of settings including carrying out maintenance work on an established flower bed or boarder, design and plant a new flowering area and prepare hangding baskets and or window boxes.

On completion of this programmes participants will be able to complete an array of soft landscaping activities confidently.

The aim of this programme is to equip learners with the knowledge, skill and competency to achieve a QQI Level 4 in Establishing Trees and Shrubs 4N0666. Throughout the programme learners will learn major factors the affect the soil suitability, identify common problems to include assessing plant quality, pest and diseases, this should on completion allow learners to prepare an area for planting including soil preparation, applying compost, manure and fertiliser.

Learners will be able to plant a range of tress and shrubs correctly, training plants to grow, be able to water plants using a range of different methods, whiles maintaining to any health and safety issues.

The overall aim of this programme is to provide learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to achieve the QQI Level 5 component award in Felling and Processing Small Trees, carrying out work-related tasks in the maintenance and operations of a chainsaw, in order to fell and process small trees independently while under general direction, Learners will on completion understand the health and safety requirements in order to complete the process safety ensure all required control measures can be implemented in order to maintain the welfare of them self and others when felling and processing small tress.

Studying on the Certificate in Social Citizenship at University College Cork offers students a stimulating environment to develop the skills they need to play an active role in shaping their own futures. The course provides the opportunity for students to develop their personal educational interests and to interact with a wide range of students from different courses within UCC. Social Media, Smart Phones and technology have changed marketing methods considerably over the past years and are all playing an important role in current marketing trends. This course provides an introduction to the principle elements of marketing skills and practices. The programme also includes research, behavioural studies, business skills, communications and digital technologies.

This one-year, NFQ Level 5 full time course equips learners with the skills and knowledge in Art and Design. Learners will explore, experiment and build on basic skills in a variety of media and disciplines. Drawing from observation is a core element as is the use of sketchbooks for research and creative thinking. This then leads to project work in other areas such as design, painting, print, ceramics and digital photography.This approach leads to the development of a varied and exciting project lead portfolio, essential in progressing to Art College.

This one-year full time course specialising in Tourism and Travel Services, equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge who wish to pursue a career in the exciting Travel, Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Industries world-wide. Tourism in Ireland currently provides 1-in-10 jobs. Learners acquire both the practical and theoretical aspects of travel, tourism, leisure and hospitality. Field trips are an integral part of the course. Learners may apply to participate in the Erasmus + involving a period of work experience abroad, usually 3 weeks in France or Spain.

This one-year full time course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to acquire to work independently and under supervision in an administrative role in a range of business contexts and/or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.

This one-year full time QQI Level 5 course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to work in television studio production crew roles or in single camera crew roles in a managed environment in a range of television and film production contexts or to progress to further or higher education and training.

The course qualifies people to seek jobs in the TV/Film industry, either in production, editing or scriptwriting. Some graduates have opted for self-employment as freelance TV/Film Producers/Scriptwriters. Award holders may apply for a place on the Advanced Certificate in Media/Radio Level 6 course in LCFE MSC.

This course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge in areas relevant to these careers. This course will improve the chances of recruitment in either the Fire, Ambulance Service, Nursing or Healthcare. Learners will gain essential knowledge and skills in areas relevant to these careers. This course is also suitable for adults seeking qualifications to return to the workforce. The course design is vocational in nature.

The Fashion Design and Construction program at the College of FET, Mulgrave Street Campus, is a one-year, QQI Level 5 course designed for learners looking to up-skill, re-skill, or explore the modern fashion trade. The curriculum approaches fashion design as an aesthetic, cultural, and functional study, placing a powerful emphasis on hands-on, practical execution. Students learn to apply design concepts directly to produce real-world results in both textile development and garment construction, while exploring critical themes like historical and sustainable fashion. A core element of the program is the creation of an individual fashion portfolio that showcases original design processes, creative problem-solving, and digital illustration mastery using industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. 

This one year full time course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to train for a career in Graphic Design, Digital Media, 2D & 3D Animation, Games Design. The course is designed to provide learners with a practical understanding of current and future digital media applications and technologies through practical projects, the course supports development of a broad range of technical skills and enhances creativity.

Multimedia Production learners have access to the high spec computer labs equipped with industry standard creative software and hardware.This course will also be relevant to those interested in pursuing a career in digital media production. 

This one-year full-time course equips the learner with the opportunity to acquire the vocational skills and knowledge to work in a business environment in diverse areas such as finance, retail, marketing, and human resources. The course provides an introduction to a wide selection of Business modules such as Bookkeeping Manual and Computerised, Business Administration, Marketing Practice, Payroll Manual and Computerised, Spreadsheets, as well as Word Processing, Communications, and Work Experience.

This one-year, NFQ Level 5 course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to pursue careers in the Sports Industry as Sports Massage Therapists. The course consists of modules from both QQI and ITEC. The Level 3 ITEC Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy is an internationally recognised award that allows learners to obtain professional indemnity insurance and practice Sports Massage on course completion. The course provides a pathway for learners to progress to higher education in the areas of Sports Rehabilitation, Health and Leisure with Massage and Exercise and Health. This course also allows progression to the Pre-Physiotherapy/Sports Therapy course at MSC. Learners are given the opportunity to pursue a career in DJ’ing, radio production and sound engineering. The course aims to provide the learner with the skills to develop their own natural abilities in music production performance and radio broadcasting.

This one-year full time course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge for performing and a desire to step up on stage, in front of a camera or behind a microphone. The course also explores the application of digital media and understanding the requirements from the other side of the stage.  This one-year, QQI Level 5 course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge for those who enjoy sport, health and fitness, and would envisage themselves gaining employment in the area. Learners who successfully complete this course will gain essential knowledge and skills that could lead to immediate employment or progression to higher education. This course places particular emphasis on equipping learners with the relevant vocational knowledge and skills to progress into higher level courses in the areas of physical education, sports coaching, strength and conditioning, sports science and fitness instructing.

This one-year full time course (MORNINGS ONLY) equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the fashion design process to work independently and under supervision and to progress to further or higher education and training. Learners will develop their understanding of the principles and techniques of fashion design and garment construction, with a strong focus on pattern drafting and grading, fitting, altering, and finishing of garments. The course will introduce elements of design through fabric manipulation and dyeing to help with characterisation of the garment as well as an introduction to fashion/design history. This course is practical and workshop based and participants will learn by doing.

This one year full time Pathways programme equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the catering trade and in hospitalities, the course aims to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop their own natural abilities in professional cookery and to gain experience in the catering trade, explore their creative ability, develop confidence in working within the catering industry.

This one-year, NFQ level 5 course equips the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work in an Accounting and/or business environment. Accounting is an integral part of all business. This course provides a good entry point to the principle elements of Accounting and practices.

This Pathways programme takes place with the employer and equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge with training and practical experience in the working environment. In addition to further developing the skills and knowledge gained during the off -the -job training elements, the learner will have the skills, knowledge and competency to work independently and under supervision is a range of construction industry contexts and or to progress to further and or higher education and training.  When completed the learner will have gained a broad foundation of knowledge and skills across the different construction disciplines especially those in carpentry, shuttering, blockwork and plastering. In addition, the mathematical and soft skills learned through the mathematics, communications and work experience modules will ensure that the learner progressing to an apprenticeship have the desired quality, suitability and competency for the courses.

The programme is designed to meet the professional award standards for early learning and care at NFQ level 5. The programme comprises six mandatory modules which equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to work at entry level across a range of early learning and care settings or to progress to stage 2 of the Advanced Certificate in Early Learning and Care or to a relevant higher Level 5 Certificate in Early Learning and Care education programme. The focus is on providing for the holistic well-being, development and learning needs of children from 0 to six years across a range of ELC settings. The programme offers a balance of theory and practice, and professional practice placement is integral to the teaching and learning.

This course will also enable learners to develop skills in payroll – manual & computerised – essential skills in a business environment. This course is supported by F.I.T.
