For each post there are criteria that will determine if applicants are eligible. These are outlined on the Job Specification for each post. Applications must be completed online for each post. All posts are advertised at career section of our website.
A selection panel of senior managers assess applications to see how experience and skills match the needs of the post. Therefore, it is very important that applicants think about their experience in light of those requirements.
Competency-based interviews focus on the key competencies identified for a particular role. A competency is the skill, knowledge or experience that has been identified as necessary to ensure effective performance in a particular job or role. These have been carefully considered and decided on before the interview takes place and are the competencies listed in the Job Specification.
Competencies can be either technical (for example, specific experience, knowledge of a particular procedure, ability to implement legislation or operate specified equipment, etc.) or behavioural (for example, team working, customer services, etc.).
Typically, each competency will be described in two or three lines, or a short paragraph in the Job Specification. It is important that you read these descriptions carefully and understand what is required under each competency.
Interviews may include a presentation and any other tests or exercises that may be deemed appropriate. Applicants deemed eligible, will be notified of these additional stage, if applicable, and may be required to attend additional assessments and interview.
Candidates who are successful at interview may be placed on a panel (Talent Pool) and considered for the positions that are offered in order of merit.
