The Engineers Ireland STEPS Programme is designed to open up the exciting possibilities which engineering offers to school children who want to make a real difference in the world.

Placement Details

This is entirely free and open to ALL students aged 13 and over on the island of Ireland.

This online work experience will focus on various disciplines of engineering and features interviews with Irish engineers who speak about their careers and how they got interested in engineering. The experience will give an overview of engineering and then focus on mechanical, chemical, electrical and civil engineering disciplines.

The virtual experience will involve reading, video, and interactive content, as well as recorded webinars and activities.

• Open to residents of Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland aged 13+
• Over 6 hours of content

How to Apply

Students can register anytime from 15th September 2025 to 18th January 2026 and complete the virtual work experience in their own time. This is entirely free and open to ALL students aged 13 and over on the island of Ireland.

There are over 20 programmes on offer and students are encouraged to apply early as we are closing programmes once they reach 150% of capacity. (This is to allow for student dropoff/change of mind).
