Hotel Westport is the only hotel set on the stunning woodland estate of Westport House.  Guests love to discover the stories behind our 400-year-old historic house, explore the 400 acres of gardens, looped walks and woodlands, hire bikes or make magical family memories with a day out at the estate's Pirate Adventure Park.  And yet, Hotel Westport is still only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Westport. With 129 bedrooms, leisure centre, conference facilities, award winning dining as well as Senses Spa, it is the ideal hotel to choose in this vibrant heritage town.

Placement Details

Introduction to the different departments in the hotel to include Front Office, Reservations, Revenue Management, Sales and Marketing, HR, Finance, Food & Beverage, Spa, Leisure Centre, kitchen and Heritage.

Each day you will meet HR who will show you to your assigned department, provide uniforms and lunch and answer any questions you might have. HR will also organise:

• Introduction to the team
• Tour of the Hotel
• Assign the work experience/placement plan and schedule depending on the candidate’s main area of interest

Students will be assigned to our TY mentor who will look after the successful candidates throughout the placement. 

Gain experience in all these key service areas:

• Reception / Reservation
• Food and beverage 
• Accommodation Assistant 
• Bar
• Kitchen Assistant 
• Front House Porter

Every student will receive customer care training, Health & Safety training aligned with any equipment they may use. It is our hope that during the placement students will gain enough confidence and acquire the relevant basic skills to interact with guests and serve our customers during their placement/work experience.

The working schedule will be Monday to Friday and based on the hours required by your school. Please note you will need to be 16 years or older to work in the bar area.
