Company/Organisation Profile
St. Monica's Youth Centre was founded in 1967 to cater for the needs of the children of families moved to the area during the large clear-out of tenement houses in Dublin City in the early '60's. It was founded by local people assisted by volunteers from the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. It was located in a 200 year-old Vicarage which was so badly damaged by fire in 1982 that the decision was made to build new premises. The activities of the centre were carried on in temporary premises until the new building was ready for occupation in 1988.
St. Monica's is recognised as one of the biggest and most innovative Youth Clubs in Dublin and caters for more than 200 children with a variety of activities i.e: boxing, basketball, drama and dance, we also have traditional activities such as: table-tennis, pool, snooker, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, bowls, football, day trips and holidays. We have also had groups on exchange trips to European Countries which return trips to our centre.
