APC is a world leading SFI research centre, with over 300 researchers and clinicians based in headquarters UCC and Teagasc as well as partner institutes MTU, NUIG, UCD, NIBRT, UL and TCD. APC nurtures a strong international network of academic, community and industry relationships and collaborates extensively with these stakeholders to explore how to harness and manipulate microbes for the good of human and planetary health.

Placement Details

Budding Biologists is a weeklong career orientation programme for secondary school students at APC Microbiome Ireland. Our TY programme aims to promote an understanding and appreciation of microbiology among young people and highlight career opportunities in microbiome science.

During the programme, participants learn about microbiome science through hands-on experiments. There is also an emphasis on building transferrable skills such as communication and team-working skills which are essential in STEM careers. We particularly welcome applications from DEIS schools.
