The National Rehabilitation University Hospital (NRH) provides Complex Specialist Rehabilitation services to patients who, as a result of an accident, illness or Injury, have acquired a physical or cognitive disability and who require specialist medical rehabilitation.

The National Rehabilitation Hospital:

  • Is the only Hospital of its type in the country
  • Is a single entity, publicly funded Voluntary Hospital
  • Provides Specialist Rehabilitation services, delivered by Medical Consultant-led Interdisciplinary Teams
  • Services are delivered to Adult and Paediatric patients from throughout Ireland, through our comprehensive Inpatient and Outpatient Programmes at the NRH

The NRH, backed by over 50 years’ experience, clinical expertise and a solid reputation for excellence, provides patients with every opportunity to meet their rehabilitation goals through personalised treatment plans delivered by the Consultant-led Interdisciplinary Teams at NRH.

Placement Details

The event is on annually in January and is open to all senior cycle 2nd level students who are interested in a career in healthcare in such areas as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medical Social Work, Music and Art Therapy, Nursing, Medicine, Psychology or Speech and Language Therapy.

The event will:

  • Give an overview of a patients’ experience of rehabilitation and the NRH
  • Outline what it’s like to work as a therapist in the NRH
  • Give some details of undergraduate and post-graduate training needed to qualify in Health and Social Care Profession (HSCP) disciplines
  • Finish with a Q&A session
