Oakfield Park is one of Donegal’s best-loved outdoor attractions and attracts over 50,000 visitors per year. The best way to explore the park is by train on 4.5km of narrow-gauge railway, which passes through beautiful woodlands, a hedge maze, sculptures, streams and lakes. Buffers Restaurant is open every day that the park is open and serves a delicious menu with lots of outdoor covered seating. 

We employ up to 100 staff at our busiest times in the restaurant, in the office and in the gardens. We employ all sorts of people in many different roles such as welcoming people at the gate, giving garden tours and helping with train rides. We have a great team here and only add a handful of great new staff each summer, but we do also employ up to 70 TY students in December for The Santa Express.

Placement Details

This placement would involve a really interesting and varied array of work and opportunities. Your involvement would be in the office, meeting visitors, working in the park, in the gardens, with the train driver, in the restaurant and much much more.

You might be involved in marketing one day and in garden tours the next. Work would be both indoor and outdoor and with over 100 acres of gardens to maintain, advertise, develop and share, there is always plenty to do!
