The Rose Hotel is a 4 star award winning hotel, close to the town centre set against the backdrop of the Slieve Mish Mountains.

We have 161 modern guest rooms, including a suite, 18 executive rooms, 5 deluxe rooms, complimentary car parking & WIFI are also included.

We have 2 restaurants, 2 bars, function room, meeting rooms, spa and gym.

We are open all year round and employ over 100 people throughout the year.

Within the hotel there are a huge range of various roles which are needed to ensure that we run the hotel to a 4 star plus service.

During the TY experience you will be shadowing various different employees in various roles in different departments - i.e. Accommodation/Food & Beverage/Office.

Placement Details

At The Rose Hotel we offer students the opportunity to do work experience as part of their school or college education.

During this work placement they will get an opportunity to work in various areas of the hotel i.e. Bar/Restaurant/Accommodation and Office.

In each of the departments the student will be shown the standards expected of them and will be shown the duties that they will be doing. They will be partnered up with another team member and will be responsible to the Manager/Supervisor within that department.

There are various tasks that they could be asked to do in any one day.

Accommodation - servicing a bedroom/bathroom/hoovering/dusting etc

Restaurant /Bar - serving guests/resetting tables/clearing tables/polishing cutlery & glasses

Office - filing/shredding/inputting data

Sometimes students maybe asked to help out in other areas i.e. banqueting or setting up of banqueting room.

All students when they commence will meet with the HR Manager to ensure that they are properly groomed in compliance with The Rose Hotel grooming standard. They also will go through some training in relation to history of the hotel, what we expect of them etc.

Note you will need to be 16 years or older to work in the bar area.
