Grand Canal Hotel is a 4-star hotel, located in Dublin city, directly across the street from the Grand Canal Dock rail station. We are in a very pleasant area of Dublin, next to the stunning canal and within walking distance of Grafton Street, Aviva Stadium, Bord Gais Energy Theatre, RDS, 3 Arena and all of the many attractions that Dublin city has to offer.

Our hotel offers 142 spacious and modern bedrooms, which include double, twin, deluxe and suites. We have a fully equipped gym and 5 meeting rooms available for weddings, conferences, Christmas parties and all other private events.

For wining and dining we have a few great options. The Gasworks Bar is managed by Galway Bay Brewery, this cool bar has not only the traditional Guinness and Heineken but 26 craft beers on tap and serves bar food daily, Canal Express is a cute coffee dock located in the hotel, serving up delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner – grab your food to go or enjoy it in our relaxing lobby.

Placement Details

Food and Beverage Assistants are primarily responsible for providing food and drink to guests. This can involve direct table service, or it can involve topping up buffet selections with fresh food.

Their main duties and responsibilities include:

• Setting up restaurant, arranging tables and assisting with the preparation of event spaces.
• Greeting guests as they arrive at the venue, directing guests to tables, providing menus, and taking orders.
• Delivering food from the kitchen to guests at the table or to a self-service area.
• Keeping any bar and drink service areas fully stocked with beverages.
• Taking drinks orders and serving drinks to guests at their table or throughout the venue.
• Wiping down tables and chairs, removing rubbish, cleaning floor, and clearing event spaces.

A placement sponsor will be assigned to mentor the student during the course of the placement. 

Please note you will need to be 16 years or older to work in the bar.
