We have a strong history of working together with students, who have generously donated their time to ensure a better quality of life for people with an intellectual disability. With the help of students we can continue to support our service users to develop meaningful relationships, to make a valued contribution and become active members of their community. Placement Details

St. Michael’s have developed a relationship with TU Dublin Blanchardstown over the last number of years. Students studying Applied Social Studies in Social Care complete a 13 week placement with St. Michael’s House organisation as part of their second year at college course.

Students are given full organisational orientation introduction to St. Michael’s House services prior to the commencement of their placement. The placement provides each student with real practical experience of working in Social Care roles. Students shadow and support our qualified staff teams in a learning environment during their daily tasks and routines.

On placement completion, the students' experience qualifies to apply for the relief panel opportunities. This panel permits the trained students to work as Care Assistants in either St. Michael’s House day or residential settings during the summer months and beyond. This is invaluable experience. Students are applying theory and practice in the same time frame.

St. Michael’s House are delighted to support this partnership which provides experienced student for future employment in Ireland. We work directly with Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB) course co-ordinators on these placements.

St. Michael’s House partnership with Institute of Technology Dundalk

The Communications and Fundraising Office have supported a four-month placement student internship from the Business and PR courses. Over the last number of years, we have provided a shadow work experience for one student to be placed in our busy Fundraising Office.

This has permitted the student to experience the more business side to our service-providing organisation. The student is interviewed each Spring for this role. We work directly with the Institue of Technology Dundalk (DkIT) course co-ordinators for this placement.

St. Michael’s House Student Internships

St. Michael’s House do not have structured Volunteer Co-ordinator to support student placements from local community schools. This is a full-time vacancy due to the size of our organisation. We are unable to accept student internship applications at this time.
